iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 17 March 2010 Posted 17 March 2010 Im not sure whether I should have put this in the ticket news and travel section or not but anyways, At college today I bought a 20pound phone voucher, rang the ticket office to get my derby away tickets they kept me waiting for so long that this happened: I gave the woman my details, my 2 mates details , my bank details n paid for them i presume .. then she went to give me my reference number and my phone cut off because I had used up all £21 .. Will my tickets still be delievered ? She said i'll get them off to you today earlier in the convo but because i hung up will she still do it ?

Shrenchel Posted 17 March 2010 Posted 17 March 2010 What a fvcking waste of a score. Just bash them an email if future and they'll phone you back or if you put all card details in the email you don't even need to speak to them. Does take ths piss though, they're basically giving anyone that doesn't live within walking distance of the walkers and doesnt have the interbob a right good hard rodgering.
fatmando Posted 17 March 2010 Posted 17 March 2010 I ve moaned on here before about the ticket office. I worked through my lunch the other day just to give myself time to ring them because they do it everytime! Rang at 4.30pm. They finally picked up at 5.05pm! The thing that drives me most mental is the it only takes 2 mins when you finally get thru. I would do it online but I don't got my members discount and the last time the tickets didn't come!!

Can't say this often enough - unless you are savvy enough to use 'PGP' or something to encrypt the email (and let's face it, I don't think the ticket office are that savvy) do not put your credit card details in an email. Email is not secure, not even a little bit. An email passes through many different mail servers between your computer and the destination. It can be read by software on any one of those machines. Or copied, and saved for later. A hacker with about ten minutes can install a programme on a mail server to read passing email and extract any that have a sixteen digit number in them. Or something like that. You have no idea, and no control over which machines get to see your email once you've sent it. Really, don't do it. Also, there is no need, as they will ring you back and take payment details over the phone.
Matt Posted 18 March 2010 Posted 18 March 2010 My argument is our tickets office can't be that busy let's be honest, There isn't going to a be cue right out the door everyday all day, I don't believe the phone line is that busy to warrant the wait, If it's true only 1 person works the phone as I say the ticket office can't be that busy especially in the week so take some people off the counter get them on the phones leaving 1 person on the counter and if/when the ticket office does get busy the extra couple of people on the phones can get back serving people.

With all this knowledge you should also surely realise that the chances of an individual having his/her details snatched over the web are miniscule anyway, even if left unencrypted. Hackers are scarcely interested in one person's bank details; they want something valuable like breaking into a company, or perhaps getting access to something secret and important. You'd have to be unlucky as hell to get your details taken from an email to the ticket office (I've done it many a time before, and don't feel insecure in the slightest. I can't really rely on the ticket office ringing me back, seen as I'm either going to be at work or college - rarely in a situation where I could just take a phone call and give out my card details)... Also bear in mind that these days you'd get any nicked money back from the bank - and how many of the people on here have got thousands in their accounts to be swiped?

Unit Posted 20 March 2010 Posted 20 March 2010 Ticket office phone line does my head in, when I wanted tickets for sheff weds away it rang through for a good half hour (fooking 0845 number too!) in the end I gave up and walked to the walkers only to find 4 staff chilling out doing nothing.
evs_the_fox Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 I've just gone on the 'saynoto0870' website and the alternative to the 0844 ticket office number is 0116 229 5000. Not tried it myself (I don't need tickets right now!) but definitely worth a try to the premium rate rip-off. Hope it helps

I told saynoto0870.com it wasn't the right number when I did the same as davieG. This was last October. Ah well.
