rico Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 i was due to go to Magaluf on Weds for 5 days, now looking very doubtful Anyone else had to cancel or miss any important flights due to this?
Unit Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Nope. Do you get refunded or anything? Can you reschedule your hotel booking? If not that must be horrible.
The Doctor Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 nope. Read in one of the papers yesterday (think it was the sunday post) that one couple had been given one free weeks accomodation by thomas cook because they were unable to fly back this weekend like they should have done.
Tevez Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Big shame for some of the smaller holiday airline companies, pulling through the recession then the bigger prospect of going bust due to a volcano.
Floating Fox Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Just seen HMS Ocean go past my window about half an hour ago...apparently off to go and fetch stranded people! Haha...Doubt the holidaymakers will enjoy the accomodation on there! !
Sir Fynwy Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Just seen HMS Ocean go past my window about half an hour ago...apparently off to go and fetch stranded people! Haha...Doubt the holidaymakers will enjoy the accomodation on there! ! My mate who is an engineer in the RAF has deployed on Ocean a few times, he says it is absolutely awful.
Alexikokopops Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 I've got friends who were meant to be off to Turkey, plus my housemate that was meant to be off to Egypt, who could miss their holiday. Plus one of my other housemates is trapped in Argentina for a couple of weeks. I haven't got much sympathy for him!
Guest DavidJCW Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 I was due to fly back from Belgium this evening... however it's clearly not going to happen so in a way I'm one of those stranded abroad too. Now, obviously I could get the train but it is absolutely packed out and the only seats that are available are in a price range I just can't even get close to affording as it's 2-3 times the price of my flight.
AmericanScott Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Girlfriend's grandad was off to Australia the day after it decided to start erupting. Feel bad for him he was really looking forward to going. Let's hope that the bigger more aggressive volcano Katla doesn't erupt now. They're saying it's showing activity now. If that thing goes off then we're all fooked.

Let's hope that the bigger more aggressive volcano Katla doesn't erupt now. They're saying it's showing activity now. If that thing goes off then we're all fooked. Was worried of that happening as every time the unpronounceable one has blown in the past, Katla has swiftly followed and it makes the one that's going look puny... if this amount of ash is causing continent-wide problems as we've seen, Katla would bring utter devastation! That's not even picking up on the fact that Katla has brought serious health problems to Europe in the past too and even caused deaths...
Tony Pine Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 meant to be flying next month. hope this is all sorted by then
Finnegan Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 I've got a friend who's supposed to be arriving from Washington in Heathrow on Saturday. Not looking likely. If it turns out it really has been perfectly safe all along and she misses her flight I'm going to be livid.
Gav_LCFC Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Supost to be going The canary islands on wednesday that don't look like thats going to happen.
Floating Fox Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 My mate who is an engineer in the RAF has deployed on Ocean a few times, he says it is absolutely awful. Haha...It isn't one of our nicest I must admit ! I nearly ended up on there, thank god i'm not.... I really dont think the hollidaymakers are gonna enjoy staying on our ship...probably be a bit of an eye opener for anyone who gets on one!
Sparky Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Robbo had his holiday to Tenerife cancelled today, he was due to fly tomorrow. I have a stag weekend in Ibiza next Thursday and hoping it all cleared up by then

JoeyB Posted 20 April 2010 Posted 20 April 2010 As far as i know Thomson have cancelled all outbound passenger flights today and tomorrow so that they can send planes out empty to bring back passengers stuck abroad, from Thursday *touching wood* flights will restart as normal as thats where the disruption was left off. Thats from EMA, all other airports will be different but the main thing to do if your flying is keep an eye on the companies webstie who you intend to travel with as they will have the current up to date information on it.
