foxes-are-blue Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Hi, at work today and just had a call from my son who is at home playing on the PS3. He was playing a cricket game and a message came up that says"dear playstation networker you have been caught hacking our system, send email password to ps3network 75 @hotmail. You have 2 hours to comply. I have informed him not to do anything. Anybody know what this is about? Thanks
syston_fox Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 If it was from an e-mail message on the ps3 then ignore it.
foxes-are-blue Posted 2 June 2010 Author Posted 2 June 2010 I think it was, telling him that he will be banned and the police will be informed, I have told him to do nothing and I will look at it when i get home. I assume it is somebody trying to hack a password or something?

If it's official then I assume they would cut you off straight away.
adam1 Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Just to clarify - you said they asked you for email and password? This sounds like a phishing scam, trying to get your details. The hotmail adress you put up - is that yours or the one they told you to email to? Any official emails would not ask you to send data to a hotmail adress. Report it online to the complaints for the ps3 online.
foxes-are-blue Posted 2 June 2010 Author Posted 2 June 2010 That e-mail address it the address he is being asked to send the details to. You advised reporting it to Playstation, is that via the playstation store or via a website? I know nothing about this so sorry, I just get asked to do a "co-op" war with him every three weeks or so and he then gets cross with me because I am crap and keep getting killed!
hairy Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 I think its important to point out that the PS3 has only been ever hacked by one man, because he wanted to raise two fingers at Sony. There is no available hack of the PS3. Its bullshit, the hotmail addy should tell you that. As if Sony would use a Microsoft email domain. FFS, chill.
Mee Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 If it was a proper message then it would not be '@hotmail', as previously stated. On Xbox their are always messages going around saying things like ' Free 1000 Microsoft Points, just send me your email and password'. Nothing to worry about mate, just some idiots with nothing better to to with their time.
AoWW Posted 4 June 2010 Posted 4 June 2010 Your going to prison. Ah, but you're going to get lynched by the grammar police.
