Matt Posted 9 July 2010 Posted 9 July 2010 Flu. Michel Platini, the Uefa president and former European Footballer of the Year, has been taken to hospital in Johannesburg after collapsing in a restaurant. The Fifa vice-president, 55, was eating at the Pigalle restaurant in Sandton district when he collapsed, falling off his chair. Watching in horror were Gerard Houllier, the former Liverpool manager, and Andy Roxburgh, the Uefa technical director who were dining with Platini. Platini was taken to hospital for tests as a precaution and according to UEFA sources was "fine" but had been suffering from flu. A Uefa source said: "Michel has had flu for a couple of days and he fainted in a restaurant and was taken to hospital. He is having some tests but is conscious and well." There had initially been fears that Platini had suffered a heart attack but according to the Ueaf source, that was not the case.
