[Fosse Boy]

Was fairly inevitable given he always struggled with injury even when he burst on to the scene in his youth. Like Simon Jones we should just be glad he was at his absolute peak during that series in '05.

Just in time to land a lucrative contract commentating on The Ashes this winter.

I really hope he forces a new media career early on and does not end up another Gazza/Hatton.

[Corky]

Sadly it was inevitable.

He's had a great career and played a major part in winning two Ashes series. I'm sure he'd loved to have done better in World Cups but he's been part of an England team that has become a force in the game again.

Best of luck in retirement Freddie

Pfft, he never was very good. No loss.

I would say he's hanging up his bat, not boots.

I don't think cricketers are really famed for 'boots' footballers more so.

Sad to see Freddie hanging up his bat though.

Where's he gonna hang his bat from?

Cricketers wear boots. Lost mine though, been wearing trainers all bloody season. Village to the extreme.

can anyone actually retire from cricket ? it's only organised loafing

He decided he wanted a more active life style, less time for drinking as well.

And it will take him quite a while to hang up all his boots
