The Ashes

Too true about the A-league as it is a new league so baby steps must be taken. But with our domestic cricket scene it has been around for years but as we were going so well for some many years they took the old adaga "if it ain't broke don't fix it" instead of being proactive. The futures league has helped but is in it's infentcy.

I admit I dont have much knowledge about the internal workings of domestic cricket, but with the 2nd Ashes loss in recent weeks and the amount of criticism levelled at Australian development practices, I likened it to football on that basis.

I did have one instance however, .... maybe 3 or 4 years ago now... where a young cricketer of maybe 14-15 was stunning everyone with batting/bowling figures at local level and the question was asked "Shouldnt he be brought into the development system?" And the response was, "We already have our numbers and players chosen".
