Fosse Boy Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 That smattering of applause for the rain from the only four Aussies in the ground just now.
Jackirius Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 That smattering of applause for the rain from the only four Aussies in the ground just now. Blimey, i couldn't spot one aussie fan, Tremendous following by England.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Blimey, i couldn't spot one aussie fan, Tremendous following by England. My mate's there, the lucky bastard. Wish I was in among it, just sounds awesome on the radio.
Jackirius Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 My mate's there, the lucky bastard. Wish I was in among it, just sounds awesome on the radio. Yep, i have just been watching it on the TV, all the lower tiers are filled up with England fans full to the brink upper tiers are pretty bare, constant singing and dancing. What i would give to be there.
ACF Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 The MCG was better on the day we retained the Ashes Woah, Jimmy Jimmy.
Matt Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 SHOW ME THE MONEY! Think that's one of the best bet's I have ever placed, As i'm a SkyBet customer they asked me to do a survey as thank's they'd reward me with a £5 free bet, I put it on England to win the series 3-1 @ 10/1. Thank-you very much.
wurmer Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 MBE's all round?? (for those that don't have them from 2005)
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 MBE's all round?? (for those that don't have them from 2005) If Tony Blair was still in power, it would be knighthoods...
Jimothy Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 MBE's all round?? (for those that don't have them from 2005) Well done to the lads, they've played well and I don't think many people thought they'd come back with the Ashes let alone win the series outright. But I can't agree with MBE's or any honours. We play this test against Australia every 18 months/2years or whatever it is, by default, and these tests just happen to have the Ashes attached to them. In reality this is no different to winning a series against India or Pakistan or Sri Lanka, we just happen to get a trophy for it. I know it has a lot of history but we have to play the fixture anyway, we don't need to qualify or anything, there's a 50/50 chance we'll win it every time we play it, and it's not as though we have to knock other teams out before we get a shot at it. And don't say they should get honours because England have't won the Ashes in Australia for 24 years or so, people shouldn't get honours for the continuing shitness of the previous people who attempted the same thing. Don't get me wrong I'm happy we won, but it's not a World Cup, it's just a test series against our biggest rivals. What next CBE's next time the football team beat Germany?
isaidno Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I've gone for England 3-1 at 10/1 and Cook top run scorer at 14/1. Really fancy England this series , I think the fact that Broad & Swann can bat a bit aswell will play in our favour.
isaidno Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 How much did you put on? Only put a quid on , slight peed that I didn't put more on it . Still, it's better than a kick in the teeth
FoxyPV Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 :appl: :appl: England 4/5 - 0 wouldn't have been an unfair result. Absolute class.
Corky Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Superb, dominated four of the five tests and thoroughly deserve the Ashes. Cook and Anderson players of the series for me.
Fox You Forest Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Anybody have any idea what that big lad in the crowd was upto?
marko Posted 9 January 2011 Posted 9 January 2011 Just stumbled across this piece written before the Ashes. I hope his humble pie tasted good. 1st Class Aussie journalism I think this is my favourite part "There's a vast gulf between their top-tier players and those on the standby list. Australia can only hope and pray that off-spinner Monty Panesar is called in for Graeme Swann. Australia have eight Test-standard speedsters in the queue."
