This is the form table since Sousa left. Granted there was the 3-1 win against Scunny which Sven wasn't in charge for but stil...

Considering we were rooted to the bottom on 5 points, I think this is a fantastic achievement with the resources he's had.

We are joint second on points or 5th on points per game (1.69).

2 points per game has been mentioned as 'championship form' but this league is wide open this year (in terms of promotion places) and as today shows, anyone can beat anyone.

1.7 points per game for the rest of the season would take us to 69 points. This is 1 point below 6th placed Blackpool's total of 70 points last season but personally I think the points totals this season are going to be slightly lower due to the competitiveness of the league.

The actual table sees us currently sitting in 12th place on 35 points, 4 points from the play offs but with 1-3 games more played than clubs around us.

What do people think now after the festive period? I'm looking at you, Sven-doubters. But also Sven fans and Sven-neutrals. :scarf:

Done fairly well so far but he had a good bunch left by Pearson and has been backed in transfers. Sousa was a car crash and has set us back hugely.

Long way to go yet, but it's hard to be overly critical when you look at form since he came in. Not gonna please everyone is he, but for me we are heading in the right direction.

some dodgy results could come back to haunt us come the end of season me thinks. :frusty:

Bristol? Ipswich? Or you mean results pre-eriksson?

well i'm trying to ignore the pre eriksson period, like everybody else. so yer, bristol ipswich etc. think where we would be with those extra points. not that thats how football works.

Yeah well now, Preston is a great chance for 3 wins on the bounce. Mind, we thought that about ipswich. We'll just have to steam roll man city first :P

I'm hoping that we can get maximum points against Preston and Millwall but knowing Leicester we'll go on and lose to Preston! Just looked at the table after we had played 26 games last season and we were on 39 points after drawing with Newcastle. So we're only 4 points off what we were on after 26 games last season!

Interesting to look at Sven's time like this - it actually shows just how well he's done. I have sometimes felt that progress has been a bit slow, but this shows how embarassingly impatient i was being. Good thread!

Not to be a harbinger of doom but we have played at least one game more than those around us - and in some cases three more - so as content as I am with the Xmas period (between 7-9 points was my prediction) I'll reserve final judgement until things have levelled themselves out in terms of fixtures.

However, I still think the playoffs are achievable :scarf:

That's brilliant to see in black & white, it removes all emotion from the equation leaving just facts and shows what a turnaround we've had, even with our poor period.

For people wanting play-offs, his points per game is obviously 1.69 and we need it to be 1.95 to hit 74 (which someone has said is the average for 6th) although I suspect 70-72 could be enough this season as no one seems massively better than anyone else.

Our goal difference means we could need an extra point than our rivals, and we really need other teams to start playing their games in hand so we get a true reflection in the actual table (not the form table) although they'll probably be more games cancelled in Jan&Feb meaning they could really have a fixture pile-up which could count in our favour - although that's obviously too many variable to consider

i agree with North London FOX. we can all be a bit impatient at times, i genuinely think we have improved under SGE :sge: and are playing better football etc etc, however (not a moan) but still a fair way to go isnt there? UP THE CITY!!! :scarf:
