Muz Posted 5 June 2005 Posted 5 June 2005 The whole standing up thing is ****ing silly! I always sing my heart out at games , but standing up causes arguements between fellow Leicester supporters. Just sit down and sing FFS.
Nationwider Posted 5 June 2005 Posted 5 June 2005 sing FFS. 119628 I think that's the important bit that everyone will agree on, hopefully.
Katy Posted 6 June 2005 Posted 6 June 2005 sing FFS. 119628 I think that's the important bit that everyone will agree on, hopefully. 119629 I should ruddy hope so or whats the point. Someone had a go at me at a game once for not 'standing up if I love Leicester' needless to say I had a go back! I cannot stand (no pun intended) the 'stand up' chant, I know people do it to rouse the crowd but not everyone does it, we all love Leicester or we wouldnt be there, we dont have to keep leaping up and down every 5 minutes. Lets make up some more chants/songs! PS For the record Davie, hearing 'Keep the Faith' has never failed me seeing the return of my lunch - it should be banned! If anything this saying should be directed at the mercenary players NOT the fans!
Hullfox Posted 6 June 2005 Posted 6 June 2005 Maybe you're right about people on the forum loving the club but some have a weird way of showing it at times. Thing is, if you truly love someone/thing then you should not criticise it at every turn. Agreed. On the pitch, the club will always go through peaks and troughs. Fact of life. In a perverse way, my sense of loyalty towards the club gets even stronger when we're crap. Maybe it's just because I like an underdog? As for the stadium being bad for the atmosphere, thats bollocks. Our home support is shit. You've just said how embarrassing we looked after Leeds sang for half an hour. They made an atmosphere in the Walkers why can't we???? They were an awful team, down in the doldrums after flirting with greatness but their supporters made a noise. They were passionate. It's our stadium, our home, it's up to us to make a noise. We still have a Kop don't we? 119610 Hmm. I don't think there's a single reason for it, although I'm sure the ground itself is a large factor. In my opinion, a typical 15,000 Filbo crowd generated a far better atmosphere than a typical 25,000 Walkers crowd. No standing. Distance from the pitch. Post O'Neill malaise. New "Coca-Cola" fans and greater mix of people coming to The Walkers. Perceived lack of value for money. No Izzets, Lennons, Walshes etc for the fans to identify with. A general fickleness in fans assuming we should boss this league. Decent facilities mean people spend more time buying pies, having a piss etc than watching the match. The persistent belief of some people that a football match lasts 78 minutes and that the world will end if they are not out of the ground by 4.40pm. 22K in the ground at Filbo = 99% full. 22K at Walkers = 60% full. Egg-chasers continually robbing us of 15,000 extra fans a week. Just some ideas. Edit: and a very small % of stewards and fans who do their best to ruin everyone else's match. 119622 Some very good points as usual NW.
Deathside Posted 6 June 2005 Posted 6 June 2005 Wow, What an emotive subject this has turned out to be - that has quite surprised me Personally I have found (particularly this season in L1) that the majority of singing and gestures etc is intended to be intimidatory to the visiting fans - This is a big part of why I have no interest in being part of it - It's just not part of my makeup Away games are a different matter and have always in my opinion been a much happier / fun atmosphere which I've always been glad to be a part of To answer another point raised in this thread I love the club but that doesn't mean I love the way it is run or agree with the views / behaviour of all Leicester fans
