General Smuts Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 For my 21st my dad with all the techno knowledge of a hermit crab managed to ebay his way into getting me every FA Cup final programme except the first one. Was that 1949 against Wolves?
ozleicester Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 For my 21st my dad with all the techno knowledge of a hermit crab managed to ebay his way into getting me every FA Cup final programme except the first one. Was that 1949 against Wolves? It was 49... and THAT one would be worth a tidy sum. Mind you be careful, there are a number of fakes/reproductions out there. If you are thinking of getting one, just make sure you google it to find out the ways to tell.

stockyfox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Ebay is probably the best place to get an idea of how much any programme is worth. Alternatively, Bonhams have occasional free Valuation days. Although you say your prog is 'in superb condition', is it an original or a reproduction. When the staff at the Football museum, (when it was at Preston), examined my two copies, they acknowledged that my originals were in a better condition than the reproductions they were selling! The programme that attracts most collectors is the 1949 Wolves Cup Final. I paid just under £50 for one in not brilliant condition but they normally finish up at £200 / £250+ I have a Stoke - Leicester League Cup Final prog (1st leg) a single A4 ish sheet - used, bit crumpled - Estimated valuation at auction £250 plus. Similarly, I have both progs for the Leicester - Chelsea Lge Final the following year. Again Estimated valuation at auction Leicester's prog £250 plus, Chelsea's £70 (However, I bought the Chelsea one for £17 on Ebay. Now I wonder what the set of two is worth? So have a good look round if you think you might just have something out of the ordinary.
