Just wondering what MM spent to get you promotion in 08-09?.

Since he has come here he has worked wonders behind the scenes, considering we nearly was no more, and i cant thank him enough for that.

in the summer him and irvine spent quite a lot:

michael morrison

mark reynolds

Gary Madine

reda johnson

then when we droped from 2nd to way down the table Irvine was sacked and Megson brought in. and allowed to bring in

rob jones loan

danny batth loan

End of the season saw us get rid of alot of dead wood on high wages

releasing Darren potter, gary teale, tommy miller richard hinds and selling michael morrison to charlton and tommy spurr donny.

GM gave MM a list of 9 players he would like to bring in

MM has said he will back GM in the transer market but having got rid of 6 players so far and only brought in the frees of

David Prutton

Rob jones

julian bennett

and semedo which All very good solid signings.

My point is we only have 2 strikers at the club, and the mellor situation not been resolved due to contract issues i was wondering how heavy you were backed in your promotion season?

Good luck for next season looks like you got a very good chance of promotion

cheers dan

The season we went up from L1 it was mostly loans from the top teams. The highest transfer fee was thought to be around 750k for Alek Tunchev from CSKA Sofia. The other transfer fees were compensation figures to Cambridge and Bury for Michael Morrison and Nicky Adams thought to be no more than 100k on either.

All this was largely covered by Iain Hume and Gareth McCauley's departures at a million each.

the players we have signed so far have been frees, we have let 2 go for cash thought to be 200k for spurr and probly got our money back for Micheal Morrison

I am highly critical of him, so maybe biased but after the initial outlay upon joining, he generally only invests what he makes back.

When we got back to the Championship, transfer fees were largely funded off the departure of Gradel and Mattock. However, he did back Pearson in the sports science field.

For your club to progress under him you need a manager with a good transfer record and the ability to call in favours.

Leicester fans don't feel much love for MM....

But we have to remember he invested in us when we were a sinking ship and pointed us in the right direction, even if we had to take a step back (L1) to take two steps forward.

We, like SWFC had a lot of dead wood at the time, i think we had something like 8 right backs and the team was a mess.

However......................He flirted with Paulo Sousa and didnt do all he could to keep Pearson which was a shocking decision.

My verdict on MM's decisions; you will see some good decisions, some bad. and some ugly.

Just bear in mind that MM will (hopefully) leave your club in a better position than when he joined, It can be worrying at times though. :dunno:

GM has previously said he doesn't like using the loan market

You haven't got a chance with him in charge. MM somehow didn't learn from his mistake in bringing him here for 6 weeks.
