I read this forum a lot... maybe too much. I don't often post but feel inclined to do so after sensing a worryingly negative tone creeping onto the board!

I am a Leicester fan but I am based in Southampton and receive complimentary tickets to the matches at St. Mary's so I have watched them a lot in the previous seasons. I have read the post from a Southampton fan and wish to echo his sentiments in many ways.

Southampton when they first went down came into new ownership with significant financial clout. They had a manager (Pardew) perceived by many to be a manager capable of managing at a much higher level (a bit like Sven) and bought some big named players. They started poorly, but ultimately came very good towards the back end of the season narrowly missing out on the play-offs (not helped by the 10 point deduction). Subsequently the additions to the squad have been infrequent but of high quality and they are now a TEAM.

Now, Leicester are a team which has been in permanent transition for as long as I can remember. Not helped by MM's liking of hiring and firing every 10 minutes. Each manager brought in their own players and philosophies etc etc etc (we all know the all too painful story). In fact our only recent successes came under Pearson. He kept the team together for 2 seasons with little investment and although the quality was perhaps missing this was negated by the team cohesion and work ethic.

What point am I trying to make?? Sometimes I wonder myself.

But in short, regardless of what people think of Sven and these players I personally believe that we should keep the team and management for as long as possible even in times of desperation. Continuity is in my opinion important and an ever changing team loses its identity.

I don't get up to Leicester as much as I would like 3/4 times a season due to cost. But pretty much every time I go its a completely different starting XI.

So lets get behind this team the manager and if it doesn't happen this season then maybe next... It will come good but we all need to be patient. Success does not happen overnight!!!

To all of those continually writing negative topics just think before you write. Negativity can multiple like a disease and become very infectious. Who knows who reads these boards but if players or club officials do it is argued that consistently calling our players pathetic or useless will do nothing to create a positive spirit in the camp.

What a well thought out post and it's won me over... Sven and the boys continue to get my backing... Let's stuff fookin forest on Saturday and start the season proper..

You are right... We must give him and the squad more time... What else makes as much sense at this present time?

I hate the fact that all this negativity is just giving certain sections of the sports media and fans of other clubs exactly what they want. All this negativity although maybe some of it is justified can't be good for our cause. We should be united (not that united).

Quite a sensible post. I'm sick of the fickle attitude of a lof of fans towards football. Everyone wants instant success and when the going gets tough, such as a team who have took a blow to their confidence( everyone starts to boo and jeer. It says a lot about the mental capacity of a large number of football fans. I don't expect anything better to be fair.

I was pretty annoyed last night by the performance and the setup (such as Fernandes playing the holding role at home against the team bottom of the league.), however, I won't be booing. I'll give the team a chance to overcome this challenge. No doubt they are on a low right now, but I can't see how the boo'ing and jeering offers anything. Sure, it tells them that we aren't impressed, but do you not think they can work that out themselves?

(Some) Shit fans.

As so often in recent times, the source of the negativity is NOT in the stands but in the manager's office.

Who omitted last season's two leading scorers from the first two games of the season?

Who made the decision to play 4-5-1 against Reading?

Who picked a player who had flown 15000 miles in a week and was clearly in no fit state to last 45 minutes let alone 90?

Who bought a player for £4m, made him captain, then suddenly dropped him on the basis of ONE bad result?

It's becoming more and more difficult to trust this manager any more. Even if we somehow fluke a win at Forest (something even Gary Megson managed with a team much weaker than this one), it is only a matter of time until the next foul-up occurs.

We've been told to show patience for the last SEVEN years - and look where it's got us.

7 different managers?

Right.

Sven could be a bit naive trying to play with only skill to get out of this division, and maybe lacks that abillity to get his team to fight hard for every point, since the Championship is about battling and a promotion is about battling and no one can cruise in a promotion.

But to start the Sven sacking campaign is not wise not now and City needs stabillity and hopefully Sven can find a formula to trust.

The problem is that Sven has started his management with Leicester in a way that is not the way forward and to do what he said he wouldn't do is not either wise. When he arrived he said in interviews that he would not do much changes and trust the squad he had, and then to almost change everything in 10 months is not good.

The atmosphere gets difficult, players starts to doubt you, since nothing you say can be counted. To first drop King as captain, put him on the bench, then dropping Mills, who is the new captain, signed for an inflated fee is not good. If you can't see that your captains are up for it and have to drop them, then you are in deep sh*****.

This could be difficult to turn around and the way Sven has changed and used players makes it difficult to get it right. We must give Sven a bit of time, but for me this looks a bit a difficult and Sven has done things in a way that looks more like a road to the door of exit than a promotion formula.

It's not quite as simple as that though. For every club that stuck by their manager and came good in the end there's a club who stuck by their manager and wish they hadn't. Simply sticking with Sven will not guarantee that he is not just a crap manager, and the longer you stay with a poorly performing manager the more damage is done. The question is how long do you give him?

We gave Sousa about 8 or 9 (?) games and people seemed to think that was about right. Sven performed just as poorly against the same teams as Sousa had done, and combined with the time he has already had to build a team and the amount of time he himself has had to settle in, one would have thought that we are entitled now to expect more from Sven at the beginning of this season than we did from Sousa at the beginning of last.
