Referees involved in match fixing?

Just got back from Brighton.

The Beckford incident happened right infront of my area.

From the intial tackle it was clear he made no contact with Dunk and that Dunk was feigning an injury. The linesman appeared to agree with this. Safe in the knowledge that the officials had got this right Beckford proceeded towards Dunk who was kneeling on the floor. From what I remember, he put both hand on either side to signal he was going to pull him up but didnt really. He then mouthed something at him. About 2-3 seconds after this the linesman stopped and started waving his flag. The referee ran over and consulted the linesman, then gave Beckford a red card.

So he either has to have A) sent off for violent conduct - at worst a tug on the players shirt and maybe a pinch of his skin b) foul and abusive language.

In terms of b) how on earth this was audible to the linesman who was what i thought to be ten feet at least away, with a noisy crowd surrounding him, I have no idea. Also, what can you get sent off for now in terms of player to player abuse. I thought foul and abusive language was normally for abuse at officials and extreme circumstances of player to player i.e. racism. Say for example Beckford called him a "cheating cvnt", is that a red card offence? I guess it is but SURELY this kind of dialogue between players is very common. Does not make it right of course, but he would surely be unlucky to get a red for that. One thought that crossed my mind was, did he say something with homophobic undertones? With the highlight on it during the week and how we are "kicking it out of football", this is the only thing I think it could be? This would also explain the few seconds indecision by the linesman, reconfirming what he said and thinking with the new campaign . . . this is on a level with racism.

I know that all sounds a bit far fetched and apologies if my recollection of events doesnt match what people have seen on camera/themselves - it just seems to be the only possible thing he could have realistically have walked for?
