Father Ted Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Definitely something in this. The last time he reffed at the City ground this is what Cardiff fans had to say about him: steve: i've come to expect this sort of performance from every ref we get now they give Cardiff....NOTHING...but everything to the opposition its obviously a conspiracy to keep Cardiff out of the Premier league don: ref should change his name to HOMER. another shocking referee Steve Price: Absolute pants consistant in that he gave everything to Forest..A cheat sent on a mission from the Premiership this happens every game Link: Rate your ref
Father Ted Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 And look what a Forest fan wrote when they played Burnley at home: Unbiast: A fair ref - AT LAST!
somebum Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I don't know about todays game, but I am convinced match fixing goes on in a massive way, home and abroad.
accessory Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I don't know about todays game, but I am convinced match fixing goes on in a massive way, home and abroad. It has done for years. Remember how we were cheated out of play-off finals two years running in the early 90s? Also remember the 1997 FA Cup game at Chelsea. The ref that night was so appalling, questions were even asked in Parliament about him. Danny Baker slated him on Five Live and ended up being sacked by the BBC, though he's back there now. Unless you bug their phones (as happened in Italy), it's virtually impossible to obtain concrete proof, though.
Spiritwalker Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 We might have to get used to bad refs this season. They're not bent but many like to be center of attention, and with us being high profile at the moment I can see us being on the wrong end of a few bad refs this season. I thought the ref at Cov was poor and he has turned out to be the best we've had so far. The ref against Bristol seemed to revel in giving decisions against us including reversing a throw in because we didn't take it far enough up the pitch.
Guest MattP Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Of course not. He was actually good to us in the first half, we didnt help ourselves in the second.

Thinking outside Leicester City here, i'm sure we could all name games where we were amazed at the decisions; some that stand out in my mind were in World Cup France 1998 and Germany 2006. The '98 World Cup was just unbelievable. It is merely a footnote game now, but France played Paraguay in the knock out stages and it still sticks in my head how many dodgy decisions the French were given, and some of them were blatant. All the usual B/S was detected; subtle bookings of key defensive players in the early minutes of the game to put them off challenging for the ball...offsides called when the attacker was well behind the defense. France went on to win that world cup after Ronaldo mysteriously suffered seizures in the dressing room before the final kicked off. The biggie for me was Italy v USA in the 2006 World cup. The Italians went on to win (after being conned out of the 2002 Cup - remember the game vs South Korea FFS) the competition but the US game was a complete outrage. The Yanks were actually playing really well but we crippled by two sendings off and a disallowed goal which was 100% legal; but, it didn't fit the plan of guaranteed Italian progression. Just theories of course but I have seen many games where things just haven't seemed right. The so called 'best refs' are fasttracked into major tournaments and even finals because they are the most crooked. *In a book I read* a fictional account was presented of an English ref with no hair who rose rapidly through the ranks and went on to official a world cup final and was rewarded well....

I agree with this. I remember the South Korea game... the host nations always get the refereeing decision go for them.
Guest MattP Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I agree with this. I remember the South Korea game... the host nations always get the refereeing decision go for them. Always the case, home sides so get decisions. We actually do, a lot of people are just too blinkered to see it.
FuriousFox46 Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Everyone has favourites. The referee preferred Forest to us. Simple.
somebum Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Always the case, home sides so get decisions. We actually do, a lot of people are just too blinkered to see it. In fact last last season I wrote about how many red cards opposition sides were getting when coming to the Walkers AND the amount of penalties we were getting. My own personal opinion is that on this level, Refs may be making decisions not based on corruption but merely on being weak minded fools who get swayed with the pressure of the home crowd. On a wider level, taking it to the big tournaments and the big four within the Prem, especially the giant Man Utd, time after time smaller clubs do not get decisions in their favor against such clubs, home or away.

That was absolutely shocking. I was surprised to see that ref walk off the pitch still alive.
gazfox9 Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Mr Moss' performance today would do nothing to persuade people otherwise.

France 1998 Ronaldo incident Korea/Japan 2002 Italy&Spain vs S Korea Worst cases I've seen, it's just one of them things where people obv see it, but don't openly talk about it. There's stuff going on has too much power. You can see it on players/managers faces nowadays
somebum Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 For anybody interested, investigative journalist Declan Hill has written a book about this. http://www.amazon.com/Fix-Soccer-Organized-Crime/dp/0771041381 He speaks candidly about it on interviews you can locate on the net.
wolfgang amadeus Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 I can't really be bothered reading most of the thread but I seem to be in a huge minority in thinking that it was Kasper reacting stupidly not once but twice that ultimately cost us. All this talk of match fixing is childish and makes us look like really sore losers, maybe it was a bad decision but dissent is something they're clamping down on and if you're throwing the ball as far as you can in frustration you're going to get a yellow card. Think a lot of you are being silly and need to watch what happened again, don't want to go anywhere near that Forest post-match thread but at the end of the day. - The ball touched Matt Mills arm (whether it was a penalty or not is another question but you can see why he gave it) - Kasper Schmeichel picked up 2 bookings for dissent in a minute (which is so so so stupid)
Ford Super Sunday Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 As Graham Poll says, British referees may be rubbish, but they're not corrupt. The ref was crap yesterday, he wasn't a cheat.
somebum Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 I can't really be bothered reading most of the thread That's where you are going wrong. Read the thread it mostly has nothing to do with what happened yesterday.
somebum Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 As Graham Poll says, British referees may be rubbish, but they're not corrupt. Quite, us Brits are true bastions of moral integrity.
wolfgang amadeus Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 That's where you are going wrong. Read the thread it mostly has nothing to do with what happened yesterday. I read through it and it's clearly obvious that it's a reaction to yesterday.
somebum Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Not from me it isn't, I was just making observations about match fixing from 1998 and 2006. Yesterdays game was in 2011 wasn't it
marbelladave Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Personally I think we have a serious problem as the referee's have far too much impact on the modern game. It is not just us, it happens to every team practically every week, when the referee's opinion matters more than 90 minutes of intensely competitive football, the game has become a joke. The insistance in punishing 'technical' infringements and the booking of players for what are no more than miss-timed tackles, is to my mind completely ruining the game, we need to to take the referees influence out of the game as much as possible, it's simple enough to do though I doubt the muppets who run the game would have the balls to make the changes.
Corky Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 What it did show is in similar situations involving us scoring we need to put pressure on the referee. I don't like it but they say these things even themselves out, so we need to try and ensure this happens.
