Prompted by Science's Television enquiry I wondered what exciting things you're all planning to do in the few weeks before kick-off?

My youngest son's got his American girlfriend coming over to meet us for the first time so we've tried to plan a programme of varied and essentially English visits around the inevitible Blackpool and Alton Towers.

We're off on the Beatles Tour, Punting in Oxford, Down the caves in Matlock Bath, concerts with Meatloaf and Jules Holland, clubbing in Leicester, jousting and a Classical concert picnic at Warwick Castle and then for a day at Stratford races, a chug down the Severn Valley Railway and, finally for a bit of a canal trip on the Welsh border.

Putting it together I was struck by the wonderfully rich and varied life on offer even within a short distance of Leicester.

But I'm sure a few of you are planning wilder or more unusual adventures so fire away...

I'd love to take some time off and do a bit of sightseeing in the UK. You often overlook those things right on your doorstep.

I'm going to be enjoying my stag weekend, some heavy duty exams, a mother-load of work, and a wedding over the next few weeks. All remaining waking hours will be spent stressing about all of the above!
