davieG Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Merc David Nugent has called on Leicester City to be more ruthless and put teams to the sword. The in-form City striker also believes he can form a lethal partnership with Jermaine Beckford. David Nugent City face struggling Millwall this afternoon (3.0) and Nugent says they must show no mercy as they look to complete back-to-back home victories. City were 2-0 ahead and flying by half-time against Watford on Wednesday when Nugent scored the first goal. But they went off the boil in the second half and Nugent said they must avoid a repeat and look to kill off the Lions if they are in a similar position today. He added: "One of these days we could get stung and the game could be 2-2. "We need to press on a bit more when we are 2-0 ahead and get the third and even a fourth. So we need to up the pace. "It worked for us against Derby and against Watford, although not as well, but it was pretty tough in the second half on Wednesday. "We should be more ruthless. We were sloppy in the second half and we really should do better." Nugent is likely to continue his partnership with Beckford, who scored his first goal for City on Wednesday night, and Nugent believes they can forge a strong link. "Wednesday night was the first time we had played together and we did well in the first half, but not so much in the second half because we tired," he said. "It takes time to build a partnership and hopefully this will be the one." Nugent has scored four times in eight appearances for City this season. He said: "I have been surprised how well I have started this season, compared to the last two. They weren't the best for me but I have kicked on this time. "Credit to my team-mates, they are putting the ball into the box for me to score. "I don't think I have had so many chances in the past as I have had so far this season. I am looking forward to every game because I believe I can score. "I could have had more goals. I hit a post a couple of times. But I am averaging a goal every two games and, if I keep that going, I will be happy." Let's just hope Sven and the rest of the players feel the same.
MC Prussian Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I didn't see a lot of ruthlessness in the second half against Watford, to be honest. Paper talk.

He's not bald Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Merc Let's just hope Sven and the rest of the players feel the same. Sven could well be the problem, he was hardly jumping up and down on the touchline after the break and I think he was happy for us to coast home. I thought we could have easily got caught out and like Nuge states on another day we could have ended at 2 -2 or worse. Yes Watford were/are poor and I doubt Milwall will be any better this afternoon but the majority of the teams in the Championship are capable punishing apathy and will do so.
MC Prussian Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 That's what Nugent said "Paper talk"? No seriously, we've already witnessed so many games this season where the team simply switched off in the second half, fading away. I was hoping they'd address this issue earlier on, that's all. Besides, Nugent's not playing football since Wednesday only.

He's been pretty ruthless so far I want to see more of Danns... If he ever gets off twitter
