Freeman's Wharfer Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 So, I'm reading outrage on here that Keane might be appointed manager. Desperate hope that it could be O'Neill. Indifference to Mark Hughes. And a right old mix for Billy Davies. It got me thinking... what does it matter?! Yes, when I first heard of the possibility of O'Neill I got all nostalgic, excited, hopeful. When I heard of Dowie's application I laughed. But now, I really couldn't care less. There has been so much specualtion, so many names and so many supposed insiders making claims that I don't know what to believe anymore. And that feeling left me uneasy. That I didn't have a candidate to pin my hopes on or one person to pray that it wouldn't be. I guess I feel lost in the whole thing and have come to realise that who I may or may not want matters not one bit. I can't influence the choice of Top and co. for our next manager. If I could then Sven wouldn't have been sacked because there was no overwhelming pressure for him to be so. They have shown that when it comes to the manager they have their own expectations and will do things their way. And I don't have a problem with this because a) it doesn't matter if I do and b) who's to say that I would pick the right man. Let me take you back to the summer we sacked Holloway.... I remember hearing that our new manager was Nigel Pearson. What has he done? Why have we picked him when there are so many other people available? What experience does he have to take us up? That period was the most disillusioned I have ever been as a Leicester fan and I was unconvinced that this Pearson guy would work out. Look how that one turned out. When we appointed Holloway I was indifferent to him, after a little research and consideration I became quite keen on the idea. Look how that one turned out. When we appointed Worthington I was disappointed, surely he wouldn't keep us up. Look how that one turned out. When we appointed Levein I was impressed with his track record and really thought we had a bright prospect. Look how that one turned out. The point is, we've been here before. So many times. So many times that we should know better. None of us will have had our evaluations of a manager prior to his appointment proven correct every time. So there's no point getting all worked up about it before it happens. The guy me or you considers the worst for the job could turn out to be the best in our history. So let's chill, not speculate too wildly, support whoever gets the gig and hope that they get it right, because hoping's the best we can do....
MattyFromLE Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 I actually agree to some extent. I think if they were appointed, it wouldn't just be on "past glories" they would have had to convince Top, and Andrew Neville, who you would think have a decent knowledge of who can do a job for us.
acooling08 Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 The thread title made me think you were advertising homosexuality.
ThurmastonFox Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 The thread title made me think you were advertising homosexuality. I thought he found out the chat up line i used on Saturday which can be considered a success. If success is measured in number of slaps and police cautions..,

Good point Regardless of record elsewhere, we never can tell how anyone's going to be. Some names have been consistent over a number of years though, & we can base an opinion on that
