Uncle Phil Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Having not long moved back to Leicester, I'm not familiar with where I can pick up some homebrew supplies. Google points out a shop in Earl Shilton, but that's not particularly easy for me to get too. So can any one recommend and shop in town? Or a decent website to get some stuff from? Cheers.
Rincewind Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Health food shop in the market. I was in there today looking at the kits. But I saw no barrells and the selection was bsiic. I have considered it myself but it costs a bit to set up.
Uncle Phil Posted 7 December 2011 Author Posted 7 December 2011 Cheers guys. I got myself another set up today from Wilkos for about £24 (excluding bottles and ingredients) Most of that went on a 9 quid fermentation bucket and a ten quid bottle capper cos I bloody lost mine. Can't wait to get started again.
The Doctor Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 Bump. Started up a 21 ltr batch of Apple Cider this morning.
adam1 Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 I've actually attempted to make Sloe Wine. Alas I may have used too much sugar for the secondary fermentation period. Cider: What apples did you use?
The Doctor Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 I just used Juice, following this recipe. Not gonna produce as good a drink as if you press your own apples, but it works well enough.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 If anyone needs a sampler please let me know
I am Rod Hull Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 I just used Juice, following this recipe. Not gonna produce as good a drink as if you press your own apples, but it works well enough. Al, have you used plastic bottles or glass? (I really fancy trying that recipe out with pear juice instead of apple)
Mack Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 My dad used to do this in the 70's. Stunk like hell and tasted as bad. Has moonshine technology improved at all?
The Doctor Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 Al, have you used plastic bottles or glass? (I really fancy trying that recipe out with pear juice instead of apple) I've got a big plastic fermentation bucket ('bout 25 litre volume). Plastic bottles should do fine though.
Music Junkie Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 My old housemate brewed his own beer last year. Stank to high heaven and tasted awful, but he wouldn't stop drinking it.
