Guest Col city fan Posted 23 December 2011 Posted 23 December 2011 It isn't as black and white as the midfield being the problem I'm afraid. There are two sides to it. Beckford has been very out of form since he's been here. He's missed sitters. Open goals even. His first touch has been woeful. He's constantly made the wrong choices when he's had the ball. His hold up play is dreadful. And in some games, his movement and effort has been lacking. These things cannot be blamed on the midfield. I don't want him to be sold, he can finish, and he does need better service. But Nugent has looked better on the whole and has scored more goals, and he's had the same service. So it can't be all down to that. The reason Beckford can't do anything without service is simply because his game is very limited. He has improved in recent games and arguably he's been unlucky not to score, but he still should have scored and set up one against Peterborough. Overall he hasn't been good enough. I'm not going to scapegoat and I'm going to say that both Beckford and the midfield have been shite. Is it ok to suggest there might be more than one problem with our team? Top post Kitch.... Blaming primarily Wellens for some of the rubbish Beckford has churned out is silly... Neither have been on any sort of form...

Fowler Owen Dickov Cottee Good grief - you list 6 poachers , none from the past right? Nige is great (obviously results here are unimportant) Beckford is crap (apart from when he used to score loads of goals for everyone else he's played for), the Thais are doing brilliantly at the club because they have bought some players and sacked some managers (may have beena b it rash there but not in your world). I've tried not to stalk you but you don't half talk bollocks
seenitall Posted 23 December 2011 Posted 23 December 2011 Teams and players work best with stability and the bozos running the club have shot that to pieces - If Nige gets a season or so with the same set of players we may see some improvement but they will almost certainly sack him by the end of the season unless we go up, if not they will give him some more money in the summer and sack him 10-15 games in when he can't cobble a new team together in a few games. This will end in tears, Beckford probably wants out to somewhere where he can get a few games run in the team and some support from the fans - picked the wrong club here didn't he?

Beckford is not this type of player IMO Secondly, if you read the thread through I've said I hope Beckford starts to regain form because I enjoy seeing ANY player score goals for us. Thirdly if you read the Ipswich on Boxing Day thread you will see I predict we are going to lose because we ain't very good at the mo... And that's with Pearson as manager. Yes I think he'll turn it around but big improvements need making. Fouthly...On the subject of living in the past.. Svens gone... Get over it and move on The issue I have with you is that you take little snippets of what I post and make them into something which you can then have a pop about... Rather than reading what I say in its entirerity. Therefore, seenitall' should be changed to 'seewhatyouwannasee'... And yes, you remain a very strange stalker... Bazzerellie Posted 23 December 2011 Posted 23 December 2011 I can only say from what I have seen in over 30 years of watching football, blaming Beckford is not the answer, our delivery is at best shit. Yes he's not the most energetic but neither was yakubu, but most seemed to love the fact that he scored goals, and I realise that people are going to say "He doesn’t score" Man U have done well season after season with the fact they have quality out wide and will continue to do so along as they have them, our problem is that we haven't had that quality in years. The team is there it just needs delivery, which the midfield doesn’t supply. Slate all you want, but the facts are there for all to see.

Tielemans63 Posted 23 December 2011 Posted 23 December 2011 The time to judge him will be if/when we bring in players who can provide him with proper service. The midfield have been so woeful recently it's hard to make a fair judgement on what JB can/can't do.
