acooling08 Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 I think it's about time something is done to prevent players from feigning injury both to: a) Waste time and slow the momentum of the game b) Try and get an opposition player booked or sent off It is cringey when a player goes down and is rolling around on the floor, only to be up and sprinting 30 seconds later. It can also be infuriating for the fans. An example being against Ipswich when Nugent went in strongly for a tackle and the opposing player went down screaming holding his ankle in a clear attempt to get Nugent in trouble. As soon as Nugent was dealt with by the ref, the player (Cresswell?) was up and sprinting less than 30 seconds later. This is blatant cheating and should not be allowed. Not only is it embarrassing and unsporting, people who dislike football use it as an excuse to say that football isn't a 'man's game' like rugby for example. So I think that if a player goes down and remains down for say 30 seconds or more, he should have to sit out for a period of time (around 3-5 minutes) before he can re-enter the game. This would give enough time for: a) minorly injured players to leave the pitch b) badly injured players to recover and/or be substituted. c) cheaters who play-acted are effectively in a sin-bin type situation. Maybe this isn't the perfect solution but I think it would be benificial. What are everyone's opinions?
Libertine Dream Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 The problem is if a player is injured the team who gets the injury is penalised and the offending team gets a man advantage for a period
Alexikokopops Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Stop the clock when there's a stoppage in play. Let's actually play 90 minutes rather than adding a spurious amount of time on at the end. Why bother with ridiculous rules that will just complicate things further when there's a perfectly simple solution? Bam, problem solved. NEXT
acooling08 Posted 30 December 2011 Author Posted 30 December 2011 The problem is if a player is injured the team who gets the injury is penalised and the offending team gets a man advantage for a period But if there is a genuine injury severe enough to put the player on the floor for over 30 seconds, he will most likely need 5 minutes recovery time or to be substituted anyway. Therefore the rule would only really effect playactors.
Yojoe36 Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 I only get pissed when a player is down, then the other team kick the ball out for him. Then they pass the ball back to the keeper for good sportsmanship. awwwww how cute. WE'RE NOT PLAYING FVCKING NETBALL! Leave 'em there. Derby bloody scored for thinking that way. However, when play is halted for treatment, the man injured should be taken off the pitch ASAP. Fvcking ridiculous when a player is 5 yards from the sideline, and has to have treatment on the field of play. The fvck is that about? Roll him off. And if all you've got is a little knock and got a slight limp, hop off the damn pitch, and stop wasting time, puff

Alexikokopops Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 This It also solves other problems, like teams trying to do time wasting substitutions near the end, players wasting time by arguing with the ref. Also we wouldn't have to worry about players wasting time with goal celebrations so everyone could have a whale of a time. I'm literally a genious.

But consider the times when a player goes down holding their face when they've barely been touched. The oppostion player gets sent off. Suddenly the player who's down is perfectly able to continue, his nose isn't broken afterall after some miracle. Play on. Yes the time isn't wasted but the cheat can still get someone sent off for no consequence.
potter3 Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 Or just retrospectively deal with diving and feigning injuries, if players start getting banned I think management would put a stop to it.

If I'm honest I didn't get past point (a) in your first post before getting excited about my fool proof solution We're halfway there. Potter3's solution works for (b). Bam, job done. We should be running FIFA.
The Doctor Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 Why should you be working for FIFA? You've got sensible answers to deal with problems - that's an immediate no-no for FIFA. I suggest if a player dives and gets you sent off, then just get up and shake his hand. Bam! - where's my job offer Sepp?
GianEmmo Zola Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 The rule where an injured player has to go off the pitch to come back on seconds later rule is the most pointless rule ever! You get kicked and injured then your team have to potentially deal with a corner for example without there centre half! Its an absolute joke. Should be other way around the player who commited the foul should go and stand on the touchline!!

NEXT Agree but you'd have to make matches 60 minutes rather than 90.
DB11 Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Ok that would just make players deliberately go in hard to give opponents a knock so that they have to sit out. Or the injury could get worse if the players are rushed into getting back up before being dealt with properly.
