stez Posted 3 July 2005 Posted 3 July 2005 as you may or may not know/care i've just moved house and trying to get back online last evening i was frustrated by the modems refusal to connect. so this evening i thought 'sod it i'll go on dial-up' only to get as far as being almost connected before getting kicked off again! so, i ring aol they tell be i need to register the new address for the modem and give me a number to ring, i ring that they tell me they will inform bt to make the line broadband enabled and this can take 3-4 weeks! so i'm left paying broadband prices for dial-up benifits! to quote matt: ' ' rant over
Benji Posted 3 July 2005 Posted 3 July 2005 yup, everytime we wanted to do something with aol it takes 3-4 weeks first it was the dial -up, then changing the phone line etc then the business of getting broadband and a few other things. Each one individually they said it will take 3-4 weeks
shack Posted 3 July 2005 Posted 3 July 2005 If you have NTL around your way - use that. AOl just take over your Pc and don't let you do anything until they say, and you can't get it off your PC either!
Hitesh Posted 3 July 2005 Posted 3 July 2005 Yep! We had the same problem when we moved house. Very annoying and made me realise how much i relied on the internet! We are still with AOL and its not bad, just got crap customer service.
City Fan Posted 3 July 2005 Posted 3 July 2005 so, i ring aol 131332 Thats your problem! Arseholes On Line are just crap!!
Hitesh Posted 3 July 2005 Posted 3 July 2005 so, i ring aol 131332 Thats your problem! Arseholes On Line are just crap!! 131341 agreed! I think i know more about their own software than them!
Nationwider Posted 3 July 2005 Posted 3 July 2005 The day I stick a free AOL disk in my computer is the day hell freezes over. I don't personally know anyone who's experience of them is wholly good. Apparently, uninstalling AOL is a herculean task? When I moved house, NTL were very good at getting me up and running again. Managed to move and install NTL onto a new pc in 24 hours. I've never needed their CS apart from this. Pity their broadband is a very slow 2MB. Feels like a 56k dial-up at early evenings.
stez Posted 3 July 2005 Author Posted 3 July 2005 can you see my house? it's the one on fire! sadly ntl is a non starter round here so i'm pretty much stuck with aol at the mo
