why cant we do when your smiling like this ?

Yeah I will agree this is decent, but this is also very rare down at st Andrews. Support like us is decent some of the time at home games and their attendances should be alot higher for a second city club. This comes from someone for whom Birmingham city are their second team.

not poor but not good enough was better in days gone by

when i was a lad my dad took me to all the away games and i gotta say it just aint the same anymore. we got outsung at cov first game of the season how bad is that .

I was there and tweeted the same thing. Got slaughtered for it but that didn't change my opinion. Their little rabble in the corner were far more consistent than our lot. Yes we had the odd loud spurt but it was very sporadic.

We can be awesome away from home & we can be pretty weak. I do agree that over the years our away volume has diminished somewhat. I'm 33 so not that old but remember amazing away trips when I was younger. Maybe this was because the expectations were lower so we just had fun. The pressure is not the same as today.

5000 fans away in an open air standing enclosure in the pissing rain for a Zenith data systems cup match against Notts County stands out. A nothing game that we made into one of my favourite away days ever.

When your smiling is supposed to be our song, but to be honest is it anymore? I mean when has it been barked out with any passion in the last how many years? We don't have any chant to call our own.

Having said that, I've still had some cracking aways days in recent times. Norwich obviously stands out, but the fans had something to prove that day. We do have a distinct lack of variety though.

But in summary I agree with the OP. Its decent, but nowhere near as good as Strings & the Youngster make out on air.

I went for their cup tie against Villa last year and the atmosphere was incredible, absolutely spine tingling. But against their bitter rivals you would expect that. However it was far FAR better than our best atmospheres against our rivals. Maybe that is simply because the Villa Blues rivalry is immense, much stronger than our links to our rivals for obvious reasons.

But I agree, for a 2nd city team the attendance's are low. This could be something to do with the fact that Birmingham also houses Aston Villa and WBA is actually in Brum (just of Soho road) & not West Brom. Walsall nick a few thousand and Wolves is only 10 minutes away.

On the flip side though, there has been some terrible atmospheres at St Andrews this season in the 5 visits i've made. (I live in Bham so get to the odd game)
