Jaspa Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 Eggs & Soldiers used to be my common second Breakfast after having Porridge & Honey But after I found a big hard wobbly grey bit rapped around what remained of a yolk, I've cut down ! Dont know how it happened, didnt think it was possible with the standards and practices of the modern farm, but it happened Dont know why it feels so wrong, but it does
MPH Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 I must just point out, however that when you raise your own chickens, and eat free range chickens that have... well.... free ranged around your farm then it makes it very difficult to Enjoy any other egg on the planet. I remember one time going out for breakfast a couple of months after my chickens started producing their own eggs.. I ordered a couple of fried eggs on my breakfast and i just couldnt eat the eggs... they tasted ( in comparison) horrible.. But may this be an opportunity for me to Plug the Battery Hen welfare trust. When battery hens reach 18 months of age they are replaced as their egg production drops a little bit and they are no longer 'commercially viable'. Miserable life then thrown in the cooking pot. Anyway The BHWT rehomes them. Often for free. http://www.bhwt.org.uk/ EDIT: no re-names the British Hen Welfare Trust. Does the exact same thing but dropped the 'battery' tag..
