I said I was looking to reduce because of my situation and even thought about doing without one. He said I could have 600 minutes 1000 texts and internet access for £6.21 pm. I dont think I could get cheaper on PAYG or another tariff but as I said the calls I mainly make on my mobile are to the ones that ar not included. He said to get the free 0800 and o845 included it would be a lot more. Could have had a new phone but that would have been £10 plus. It was £8 something before plus VAT and call charges so even though its another year contract I will be paying at least £3 or £4 less pm. which amounts to 1 1/2 pints.

Its my broadband/landline/TV that I want reducing. That is on Virgin. If I was a new customer I would be offered a good deal. As it is they say I have the cheapest package. I pay extra for a virgin box. If I could work out to reconnect my ariel I could just have Freeview box for a one off payment. And I'm sure there are cheaper broadband than Virgin. I have the old NTL cable though. I do have a BT plug but it would have to be reconnected and maybe new cables put in for the broadband and phone. My package for TV Phone Internet is around £50 may be more. They are supposed to be increasing the speed but my speed is OK. I would rather pay less for the speed I am on and have a choice of paying more for a faster speed. It will be increased that is certain and they will say well we do offer the best speed forthe price.

Yeah, it annoys me a bit when new customers get the best deals. I got the landline so I got the minimum free tv package with it. I was lucky because the council put freeview, freesat & sky and DAB aerials into our flats so i've got virgin and freesat in the living room and i've extended all the cables into the bedroom so I can also watch virgin in there as well as the freeview and freesat boxes. To get the best free tv you really need freesat and freeview as they have some different channels. Didn't I read in another thread that you're in a flat? You should get onto the council and ask where your communal aerial is. Or is it a housing association flat?

But when the change over happened the housing said I could not use it after and installed some sort of box. Now I can't tune the TV in with the areal The connecters are in the loft/roof which is part of my bedroom so I have access to all three. I used to swap them around to get the best reception. The other two residents dont have TV's I was trying to remember what trouble I had with company that was settled out of court. It was over my ariel. The HA refurbished my flat so I had to move back. When I moved back My reception was fecked up. The company that did it said reception was always bad because of the area. I said yes but I upgraded. They near enough called me a liar. A letter from the HA said the matter was closed. So I replied to the company and said would they like to call me a liar in court? They came and fixed the ariel within a couple of weeks. What they did was move the ariel and connected other s to it giving it a worse reception.

I've got one on my original freeview aerial that i've got in the attic. I only use that aerial when we've had a power cut and the power to our aerials has tripped off. Doesn't work without it and works perfectly with it

I Could save around £30 month if I took the cheapest way out. I would be left with just the basic no catch up or recording ability. I am over budgeted by 80-100pm so that would make a difference especially if I could get to do a few hours work a week. I just keep hanging hoping something is around the corner so I wont have to make any more drastic cuts. Despite what some say its not a bed of roses for the unemployed but compared to some I do OK.
THEFATBASTARD Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 virgin are fookin robbers..text me at chrstmas giving me 400 extra minutes as a "loyal customer".... happy days... phone around all the family ...what they failed to put in the text was it applied only to virgin network phones ..got a nice new year bill of 147 quid....I had been with them for 8 years..never had a bill above 40 quid before..also had the virgin dongle which was s h i t e ...wouldn't let me out of the contract for 18 months..won't use them again..

Harly ever text. I go onto Facebook sometimes if out to check status but websites I find the text too small to red. An Ipad or Iphone would be nice but they cost silly money to buy or rent for the amount of use it would haver.

You still get catch up with the basic tv package but you don't get free on demand. I do ok on basic JSA as well by managing my money properly and saving as much as possible instead of wasting it on booze or drugs. Boring but needs must

Did they give you a price for broadband + the basic M tv and phone package? You'd still get free calls to landlines at weekends and you'd lose some channels and the free on demand stuff but you keep the catch up service. Have you thought about switching between providers to get new customer bonuses till they run out and switching again?

I shall have to call them and say I want the cheapest no matter what is taken off I'll tell them I've had a good offer from elsewhere. I think I had something in the post from Talk Talk. I normally throw them in the bin as I go out but I put it in my shopping bag. The thing is if they are seperate it may put up the price. Only getthe TV price because its in with the others. There is one that does broadband for under a tenner. Will have to get off my backside and really look into it.

Free installation but I have a BT sockett so that might be able to be activated. The best broadband speed I can get is 10.5 but Virgin say they are doubling to 20. Waste of time if I'm unable to get it. The prices are the same as above. Whether it will save me if Iremove phone and broadband from my package I will haveto check So its £17.75 for phone and broadband wich will rise to around £22 after a year. Need to find out what my TV alone is or if I need it if I can get a Freeviewbox to work. That will take £20 pm off my bill.
