Wesolowski ~ Give him his chance CL!

Recommended Posts

I really hope that CL gives this guy a fair chance with the 1st team squad this season, he looks a real talent and if he doesn't get an opportunity soon i can see him looking elsewhere!! He is certainly no worse than what we have in the middle of the park just now is he??

Any opinions??

JW looked very good against Kettering today - he made things happen and all our best moves came through him. But I still think he needs a good season in the reserves before he can make an impact in the championship.

To be fair Kisnorbo, Hughes, Williams ARE better than him in the middle of the park now....but lets give him a chance to show us he can improve! :) The main thing though is that we win matches/points and that is done by the best team out :)

Id play him in a few more friendlys, then if he plays as well as he has give him a couple starts/sub appearances.

well, if he is young, good and worth puting in the 1st team squad then i think it wont do any harm... training with the 1st team can only be better for him :) and coming on as a sub in a competitive leauge game would give him a better veiw of what it is like to play in the leaugfe and show him what he needs to improve on :)

Give him time to come into the squad. He wont achieve anything if you chukc him straight in. You need to give him time to adapt to the Championship and this can be done by giving him some sub appearances in the first teams and giving him a chance to prove himself in the friendlies.

Easy does it with kids. Things are seen in black and white when your young rather than in shades of grey when you get older so lots of involvement, lots of explaining what's going on and what's expected and lots of care not to shatter confidence.

You've got to show kids you BELIEVE IN THEM and tell them you believe in them. Make em feel they're special and they'll treat you special in my experience. That's why they're so good in the forces.

Convince em they can move a mountain and they will move a mountain (or kill 'emselves trying). Bet if Wes got asked to play for City's first team he wouldn't take 48 hours to make up his mind.

The only problem he has is that the position he is fighting for is the position with the most quality in depth, for this reason it make take long than others for him to break through.

he also plays left mid as well tho maybe he'll get a chance there then move central

Apart from Sylla, we don't really have a natural right winger, so young Wezza may get his chance there next season.

Time to step up

by Andy Mann

Craig Levein has challenged his younger players to stake a claim for a place in Leicester City's first team this season.

Midfielder James Wesolowski, in particular, caught the eye in a youthful City side that kicked off their pre-season fixtures at Kettering on Sunday.

The 17-year-old Australian scored as City left Rockingham Road with a 3-0 win. Among the starters, only Richard Stearman, Alan Sheehan, Tommy Wright and Chris O'Grady have appeared for the first team, and City boss Levein said: "It was a fairly young team that we had out there and they played okay.

"One or two of the players did well. In particular I thought Stearman, Sheehan and Wesolowski did well.

"Stearman and Sheehan we know about. They were around-about the first team for a lot of last season. They are recognised as being part of the first-team squad.

"Wesolowski also did quite well and I think he is one of those that we will be looking to improve and become part of the first-team squad."

Levein has underlined his hopes for Wesolowski by naming him in a 19-man squad for the two-game trip to Norway which starts today. They travel beyond the Arctic Circle for a friendly against Bodo Glimt on Thursday, the second game being against Lillestrom on Saturday.

The games come in the middle of the Norwegian league season and promise to be testing.

Lillestrom are sixth in the league after losing their last game 2-0 to Molde, while Bodo Glimt are 12th in the 14-team division having lost 3-1 at home to Lyn Oslo last time out.

The only notable absentees from the City squad are Peter Canero and Lee Morris, who are missing through slight injuries.

squad: Douglas, Maybury, Kisnorbo, Hughes, McCarthy, Williams, Sylla, Connolly, Dublin, De Vries, Tiatto, Henderson, Wilcox, Gudjonsson, Stearman, Sheehan, O'Grady, Wesolowski, Johansson.

On the transfer front, City continue work to tie up the signings of striker Steve Lovell and defender Patrick Gerrbrand.

A deal has been agreed between City and Dundee for Lovell but he has asked for time to consider the move. And Gerrbrand is trying to clear things with his club Hammarby in Sweden.

Leeds United, meanwhile, have ended their interest in former City winger Keith Gillespie.

lol lol Love it.

He does look like a good prospect. I think we will see him start to break through this season... you may find him starting on the wing like someone else has said... unless we play 4-5-1...
