Fox in the North Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 For me not a lot of other players spring to mind other than cole and lahm
AyewJoking Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Like him or loathe him, he is still Englands best centre half by miles for me. Just watching us against Ukraine without him highlighted it perfectly. Innocent until proven guilty? What if you've been proven innocent? Does that mean you can still be semi-guilty? What evidence does the FA have that the courts didn't? Did he racially abuse Ferdinand or didn't he? Its all a little dramatic and drawn-out for me Was he only found innocent because no one could prove what he said/didnt say? The FA just dont want to be seen taking this whole racism issue too lightly in my opinion and now we've lost one of our best players.
BlueSi13 Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Lahm is both a better left and right back than Cole is a left back. There's no doubting he's a good player, a top class player, but this English posturing about him being the best in the world is just a myth fuelled by bias. Even more so now that he's comfortably beyond his best. In your opinion. For me Lahm has never been in Cole's class, he's solid and reliable but knowhere near as dominant as Cole both as a defender and as an attacking option. The only reason he seems to get mentioned is thanks to people desperately trying to think of somebody that plays at left-back so they can compare to Cole. I fear your allowing your naturally anti-English and pro-German football tendencies to get the better of you Finnegan The amazing thing about Cole for me is that i don't think i've ever seen a player consistently have the beating of him, even Ronaldo couldn't get out of his pocket. For me currently he is England's only player where we can all agree is world class, and the only one who would get in a world 11, even now, he is as evergreen as Cafu. As for the Terry case, it seems to me the FA wants to send out some sort of message about how racism won't be tolerated, irregardless of whether Terry actually abused Ferdinand or not. Bit of a farce really.
MooseBreath Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Like others, I don't understand what the FA are playing at trying to proceed with charges after he has been found innocent by the courts. The court verdict is the authority. The FA are trying to be vigilantes. It's obviously some kind of personal vendetta, which is pathetic and further reinforces the image that they are nothing more than a crock of charlatan tosswipes.
