The People's Hero Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Hi All, I am after a compact video camera. I have a large camera which obviously you have to make a bit of an effort to get out each time etc. I also have an iphone but I find its a bit rubbish for making video, partly because its a big awkward to use and the focus is a bit rubbish but also because I don't have much space on mine. I want it to have to hand in my lounge, so small and easy to fire up and use, since our 10 month old is doing new things all the time and my wife regularly shouts at me (no really!) - quick, get a video of this! Over to you guys - I don't have a massive, massive budget, but my requirements are that it be compact, easy to use, ergonomic and that it can write to SDHC. HD would be a plus. Anyone got any recommendations/advice/own anything similar etc etc? Thanks
sphericalfox Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 In all seriousness, there are plenty of options. Just depends on how compact you want. Here's an example: http://www.amazon.co...sxp_grid_pt_0_0 Is this the type you were aiming for? Otherwise this review site might be of use. Just look at the budgets and go from there: http://reviews.cnet.com/camcorders/
MC Prussian Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Well, what is your budget and how compact can/should the camera be? Are you looking for a simple camcorder or something bigger and more... professional-looking?

Are you looking for a simple camcorder or something bigger and more... professional-looking? Sorry, I should have said - its for capturing family movies really. Its the sort of thing I'd take on holidays as well, but nothing overly professional. I don't need for example loads of different modes and lenses. Just one good all purpose lens and a point and click type approach (I want my wife to be able to use it easily when I'm not about and she's not that comfortable with anything too complicated technology-wise). I would like it to record clear, good quality footage (both visual and sound) but it doesnt need to do anything flash.

So are you talking compact, as in as big as a phone compact or a little more 'camcorder-esque'? Like this: http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/11971389/art/samsung/hmx-f80-high-definition-c.html
