Classic from the mercury 'Anthony Knockeart sat out last weeks win against Huddersfield'

Thats good saves us bothering with the replay.

reminds me of the Bill Anderson days when he had obviously been to a completely diferent game to the rest of us.

Im on the inside pages now someone called Rob Tanner(no relation to Bill then)reckons 'Schlupp was first moved to full back by former city boss Sven and has used him as cover for Paul Konchesky this season.

And then we have a quote from Marshall re Richie Wellens 'He could be the difference for us in our push to reach the premier league'followed by the obvious'the end of the season seems to be getting closer now wheras at the start of the season it felt farther away''there is a buzz about the camp'best call the council'get rid of the wasps nest.

Footballers and so called journalists. My own fault for buying the paper

'Anthony Knockeart sat out last weeks win against Huddersfield'

Is this referring to today's back-page story? My copy reads 'After missing last week's FA Cup tie at Huddersfield'. No mention of a win.

Rob Tanner is an awful journalist, he was so far up Mandaric's crack you could barely see him, I'll never forget his 'Bruno Oliveira taught Jose Mourinho everything he knows' article whilst he was trying to convince the Leicester public we were going to be the second coming of Barcelona under Paulo Sousa.

The standard of journalism in the Merc has been rapidly going downhill for years, probably be a free paper eventually. Circulation must be 20,000 tops now.

Agreed the standard of journo at LM has now become woful. Only buy it on a monday now to laugh at the match report that describes the nothing like what actually happened lol

If you didn't watched the games & just read the LM you would think we were & played like Barcelona every single week lol

Top right corner on the pic BODY BLOW etc.

Good old Bill Anderson was classic -we could have lost 4 nil and Bill would find a positive.

I only buy one on wednesday for the job vacancies-

Sven did first try Schupp at left back in a few friendlys

You missed the point. Schlupp was first moved to full-back by former City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson AND HAS USED HIM AS COVER FOR PAUL KONCHESKY THIS SEASON

we should apply for the proof readers job-assuming they have one that is

I don't think they've bothered with a proof reader since they were taken over by Northcliffe Media. It's a Nottingham based company which explains all the glaring errors and poor spelling if they do use one to correct everything lol

No such thing as a proof reader in newspapers, they have sub editors.

In the past year or two, they have pooled the sub-editing of the Leicester Mercury, the Derby Telegraph and the Nottingham Post in a cost-saving drive.

Local papers are all skint because a) less people buy them now and b) they can't generate the same advertising revenue because of the falling circulations and the power of online advertising.

Further to this, Northcliffe has been sold by the Daily Mail Trust to a holding company called Local World.

The lm's circulation is about 50,000 according to my journalism tutor still a poor paper mind

If you're a journalism student now I'm pretty sure you wouldn't turn down a job there...

Joint honnors with film so hopefully wont have to go into journalism. They dont sell it well on the course.

I wouldn't worry, there's no chance of you going into it with that attitude.

All the best with the film career.

With his spelling of 'honnors' he'd go down a storm at the Grauniad.

Very few full time staff nowadays, freelancers.

Shit paper indeed. The even avoid the word " death " now in the obituaries as if the word is offensive, prefering to call them deceased. And even allowing people to put poppy symbols against the names of the dead who have had no miltary connection what so ever.

A pathetic little rag that will soon go the way all local rags will go to be viewed on a web page only.

Being skint doesn't excuse glaring errors, bad grammar and poor spelling though. Sack the sub-editors, they're useless lol

It's the content, nothing else, that gives me no motivation.

During the season it's bland soundbites from players, coaching staff, directors et al. They say nothing revealing except 'we can go up' 'we must focus on X united' 'it will be a tough game but we have the confidence.'

Now, it's not the fault of the paper if there's nothing interesting coming out of the player/manager/coach/execs mouths, but there seems to be little effort to produce anything deep.

When something does happen, or it goes quiet over the summer, the sports desk wheels out its little black book and contact the array of boring supporter trust heads who do not represent us all and are far too cosy in their role as spokespeople for the fans. Again, little effort to engage with actual fans views.

That's the state of the Mercury sport, basically. Bland as anything.
