DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 September 2013 Posted 20 September 2013 Godfrey Leonard Beardsley 3.jpg I assume thats the badge on his cap Yes, but my eye sight ain't what it used to be. I did look, but gave up. Think I'm ready for the knackers yard.
Smudge Posted 20 September 2013 Posted 20 September 2013 While we're posting stuff about our sporting relatives... here's my great, great, great something, Job Cobley, the Elastic Pot Boy!! A quite famous bare-knuckle boxer from the 19th Century btw. I came across this on Ancestry Hopefully the link works if not I'll download it for you. It would be easy I imagine to make the link to you if true, if you want me to make the link PM me, I have been doing family history since about 1989. Edit I have found him in the 1851 census as a gardener living with his parents bu 1861 he has moved to London living in St Giles with his wife Ann and three children, his occupation is "gardener."

Cheers for that Smudge, I've just saved it. Cheers for the offer of researching it for me, but my wife did lots of research about 4 or 5 years ago. She was actually doing it for my mum who had some questions about her ancestry, but then she got carried away and kept going. She managed to go back to the late 17th Century. Most of my ancestors (and Job's family for that matter) seemed to be in the workhouse or prison, so Job stood out! We still have the original notes we took from Ancestry.com in the loft but I haven't looked at them for a while. Maybe I should get them down. Thanks for the offer and interest though!
