Driving Whilst On The Phone...

Not bullshit at all. Signed statements and evidence given under oath in court from 2 police officers detailing the same in depth evidence would almost certainly result in points/fine if it went to court. Traffic offences in the area where I live are dealt with by traffic offences reports which is basically a form detaling the offence, vehicle and driver etc. On the back the police officer writes a statement which is then sent off to a central ticket office who then decide the punishment. If the evidence is there, the driver will almost always recieve fines/points. If the driver chooses to go to court, thats up to them. The outcome will usually be the same, unless there is a big discrepency with part of the evidence.

must have nothing better to do up your way.

I have been pulled once for allegedly jumping a red. I hadn't but the copper was convinced I had but admitted their word against mine and my girlfriends was a pointless exercise.

I also got pulled for doing about 65 in a 40 zone. Although it wasn't on camera or recorded I admitted it but they admitted it was unlikely to result in a conviction as it was their word against mine and there was nothing to stop me changing my story. Despite the fact as they both came in my first 2 years of driving it would have been a piece of piss to take my licence away.

Same difference. She could say she was trying to get through to the emergency services at the time to report something. Prove shes lying....

If that was the case, why wouldn't she pull over and then make the phone call?

Would the fact she's on her phone while driving, at the risk of causing an accident and harming other drivers as well as herself and any other passenger(s), take precedence over what the context of the phone call was?

With the red light situation, I think you would struggle to get a conviction if you were a lone copper and the driver was denying it. It would be far more likely to be successful if there were two. With the speeding, I forget what the actual distance is, but if two cops follow a vehicle for something like a mile, they can use the police car spedometer as a measure of how fast you were travelling as they are calibrated exactly right. Like I said, that has to be with two cops otherwise it would go nowhere.

She could say she was following a suspected drink driver or she thought she was being followed and was trying to call the police. Crap defence I know, but people use it and it usually works. You cant prove otherwise. Unless an actual police officer witnesses it, you could argue and deny it till the cows come home.
