Had a look at where this is on google earth. Right behind the pub, assuming the helicopter was flying west, is what looks like an art gallery and dance studio. Very unlikely anyone would have been in those at that time of night. If it had dropped seconds earlier than it would have crashed onto an empty building. Just shows how unlucky it was that it's landed on a crowded pub.

There's also a large open car park close behind the pub. Possible that if the pilot knew he was in trouble he was trying to put down in there? Or even drop it into the Clyde?
