Tommy Posted 8 August 2005 Posted 8 August 2005 Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has been admitted to hospital with a suspected knee infection and is a doubt for the third Ashes Test on Thursday. Lee experienced swelling and discomfort in his knee and was taken to hospital on Monday for tests and treatment. He took four second-innings wickets at Edgbaston and almost batted Australia to victory with an unbeaten 43. Australia are already set to be without Glenn McGrath at Old Trafford while he recovers from torn ankle ligaments. Old Trafford traditionally favours spin and Australia could choose to replace Lee with Stuart MacGill. Other options would be all-rounder Shane Watson or pace bowler Shaun Tait.
C-man Posted 8 August 2005 Posted 8 August 2005 Another peice of luck, without their two most potent fast bowlers, we'll be in with another shout to go in front
toonboy Posted 8 August 2005 Posted 8 August 2005 Good news from an England point of view, maybe the luck is with us this time. It is only 'doubtful' he will miss the game though.
john_lcfc Posted 8 August 2005 Posted 8 August 2005 an infected knee. Brett Lee wont miss out after having such a good test because of an infected knee. My bets is he will play
Hitesh Posted 8 August 2005 Posted 8 August 2005 All Good! I reckon Hodge might get a call up. Cant memba if he was in the squad or not though.
john_lcfc Posted 9 August 2005 Posted 9 August 2005 All Good! I reckon Hodge might get a call up. Cant memba if he was in the squad or not though. 152889[/snapback] i know someone closeley associated with the aussie team and the word is Magill will play along side shane warne at old trafford
rossporterlc Posted 9 August 2005 Posted 9 August 2005 i'm guessing that he must be worse than brett lee though, i hate lee, cocky moron
Knighton Matt Posted 9 August 2005 Posted 9 August 2005 Macgill is a pretty good leg spinner. Better than Giles undoubtedly. Apparently the Old Trafford pitch turns a fair bet so they probably would have gone with 2 spinners anyway so it may not be a bigger loss as the Aussies first feared...
Nationwider Posted 10 August 2005 Posted 10 August 2005 Lee is cleared to play and there's an outside chance of McGrath making it too.
