Cobbo Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Why the sad face? 14197 Because Scowy is vital to our teams style of play and we're not as good without him! Stop just having this blind hatred for his ability....He's been one of our best players (ok, it's not hard..) this season.
Mark Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Oh please. We are better without him because our team doesnt revolves around a hoof to his flaming head. I hope to god he's out for months then you'll see i cant believe some of you.

Our results and performances would get worse before (maybe) getting better. Scowy is definately in our best 11, why do you not see this? I can't believe you sometimes...
Mark Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 I cant stand the way he plays ok? I cant stand the fact we play to suit his main attribute. He loves his heading but theres only so much of it in a match there should be. We aint going to progress as a team with him on the right side of midfield week in week out. The reason we are not scoring is because we dont have a midfield. Who plays in midfield? Scowcroft and Wilcox - on the wing!!! Too slow, shocking players. So whenever it goes through midfield no one knows what to do. Only time it goes out wide is through Walker or a long ball from defence. We are so predictable its untrue. Without him in the side we'd be forced to go down other routes. Dublins head most likely but at least its a change.
Carlo Posted 22 August 2004 Author Posted 22 August 2004 If it's "quite serious" why did he continue to stay on the pitch??? I know the subs had all been used but was it his decision to stay on or that of the management??????????????
Cobbo Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 I agree that two slow players doesn't work on the wings, but Wilcox is slow and actually has no good attributes that he can bring to the team. Scowy is extremely good in the air (maybe not heading at goal..) but his heading is a great tool for our side. When we're going forward down the opposite flank to him, he becomes a third striker giving us more chance of scoring when a cross comes in due to the extra body in the box and that the extra body isn't just there, he's actually got a chance of heading it against a big centre half, unlike some nippy winger. This may not work well at Premiership level, I agree, but at this level it's been very effective for us. As well as being good in the air though, he's actually technically sound. He may be slow but he can at least pass and control a ball, something that Stewart and Wilcox seem unable to do!

Mark Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Its not working well cause we are in 19th place. Mickys tactics suck full stop. Scowcroft is a part of them tactics and one of the main faults in his tactics the way we're all about Scowcroft. Watch how Wigan play next time they are on tv, i like watching them they know how to attack. And on the wings they have Mahon and Teale, quality wingers. They have a settled team, they dont change teams every season/sign 10 new players every year. It is WORRYING. Well it is for me because i want us to be good again but it aint happening the way things are going.

The left side has been so bad...Tiatto will stop this in future hopefully, he was by far our motm yesterday. I firmly believe that at this level we are a better team with Scowy in the team, whether our play becomes one dimensional at times or not. I do think Micky is trying to change our style from the big hoof up to Scowy, giving it a bit of variation. But with the way our midfield has been performing of late, the hoof looks like the better option! What I think we're missing more than anything though is quality balls into the box. Wilcox and Stewart haven't got in to crossing positions at all and Tiatto has only played one game, mainly at LB. After all this you would have thought that our set pieces could supply some quality, but they've been piss poor.
Foxes_Trust Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 If it's "quite serious" why did he continue to stay on the pitch???I know the subs had all been used but was it his decision to stay on or that of the management?????????????? 14211 The management - he clearly didn't look keen to carry on. After a while he also wandered over to the bench but was obviously told to stay on
TrickyTrev Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 Scowcroft being injured does not change our style of play. We just put Trev in his place and we are just less effective at an already ineffective style. He is easily one of our best three or four players, sad but true because he could never make a premier division side.
shelly Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 Cannot understand some people. This bloke was sitting next to my dad and all he was doing every time Scowcroft was near the ball was have a go. And then after he was injured he kept shouting at him to put more effort in! I'm not as knowledgeable as football as some people but i do think he will be good for us in this division, but it seems to me as if some people won't even give him any sort of credit whatsoever. He's not going to turn round to Micky and say "Sorry boss, but i think you should play someone else instead of me this week", is he??
shelly Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 Well I bet the man near my dad won't be happy to hear that!
mad biker Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 There`s a lot of "men near your dad" type of people Shelly, they`re called moaning gits ignore them, I do !
shelly Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 I do!! They don't say much to me anyway, I'm only a girl and i don't know anything about football. Then my dad told them to watch what they were saying!
kerryh Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 I can't believe people are knocking Scowcroft this season. Relatively speaking he has easily been one of our best players. As for the moaning old gits at the football - have a go back at them Shelley I do!!!! The two moaning racist old gits behind me at the West Ham game didn't bother coming back for the second half - so it must work!
shelly Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 Oh I do have my say don't worry!! But I don't think I could make anyone uncomfortable enough so they don't return for the second half. After all, they have paid their money along with the rest of us.
Guest freund Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 apparently the injury isnt too bad, according to the official site
