Happy Fox Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I'd be amazed if Phillips and Konchesky were in the plans for the team next year. We've got a title to win, let's pick from the best we have now and win it. You have very strange ideas. he will be signed a contract extension.
davieG Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Hasn't Dyer already been offered a 1 year contract? The simple fact is we don't know who he plans to retain so any team he puts out could be one for today or one for the PL.
Vicki Vixen Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 If I'm being paid mega bucks to work for another 2 weeks. I'd work for those 2 weeks before I stopped. Wouldn't you? But in your OP you are not suggesting the players simply work, you are suggesting they raise their game to Prem standard. I don't think this is the time to be pushing the players in that way, niether psychologically nor physically. And besides they are not on mega bucks yet (relative to other professionals at this level)...those come next season.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Lets be careful here . We are a prem team in name only . If we tried to survive in the Prem with the team we have now we would be down with the Christmas lights. We are the best in this league but the gap is massive and for us to dismiss other teams as some sort of cannon fodder because we are going up is a bit fanciful to say the least. We need to respect our opponents until the end of the season because if we don't another Brighton debacle could happen. All of our players have contributed to get us promoted this season at some stage and each and every one of them deserves the right to play if picked, and for quite a few it will be their last season with us. So come on lets let them know how much we appreciate what they have accomplished and sing your hearts out for the lads.

I thought Konch already had his extension but then again he isn't going to be replaced by GTF is he? Philips is supposed to be joining our coaching. Why are my ideas to play the players we're going to have next year strange. I'd presume that GTF playing would mean he WILL be with us next year.

I guess I'd know who I planeed if I were!

Guest Col city fan Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I'd be telling my players that post-promotion euphoria is finished. We're now a Prem team and we need to play like it. The next time we play a team of QPR's standard at home we'll be expecting a win, anything less would be a bad result. The next time we face a Huddersfield or Doncaster standard team it'll be in the Cup and home or away it'll be an upset if we don't win. Now's the time to play like a prem team and dispatch QPR quickly and efficiently. I'd also only have players in the 16 who I'm keeping next season. Are we keeping GTF, Wood, Hammond, Dyer ? If we're not then they don't make the 16. Why bring on GTF instead of Wood if we're keeping Wood and not GTF? It's time to think Prem and play like Prem. If players are not up to it then take the action now and move on. Nah.. There's ages between now and the start of the Prem season (the PREM season..wow!) and anything much could happen. We could get big offers in for some of our players? (Eg. Vardy, Drinky), we could pick up big injuries, we could sign three or four newbies. Playing QPR at home today will be nothing like the start of the Prem. QPR have nowt much to play for (other than revenge?) and anyone we play at the start of next season will be revved-up to go for the Prem campaign. I kinda see where you're coming from, but I think Nige will just play out the rest of this season, try to win the league and then start thinking about squads, positions and formations in a few weeks time. I'm not saying he won't have an eye on next season, just that things will change between now and then.
Guest Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Yes I know so really your topic is more about who you're likely to keep / get rid of. No. I wouldn't get rid of all 4. How can you misunderstand what I said? I would play the players that have a future at the club over those who don't. Is that clear for you?

No problem with disagreement - it's a discussion forum - I thought you didn't understand where it was me who didn't understand you. Sorry.
Bettsj2 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 If I were NP i'd wank off in front of the mirror every day screaming....'LEAVE MY DAUGHTER ALONE!!!!!!'
