Guest Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I'd be telling my players that post-promotion euphoria is finished. We're now a Prem team and we need to play like it. The next time we play a team of QPR's standard at home we'll be expecting a win, anything less would be a bad result. The next time we face a Huddersfield or Doncaster standard team it'll be in the Cup and home or away it'll be an upset if we don't win. Now's the time to play like a prem team and dispatch QPR quickly and efficiently. I'd also only have players in the 16 who I'm keeping next season. Are we keeping GTF, Wood, Hammond, Dyer ? If we're not then they don't make the 16. Why bring on GTF instead of Wood if we're keeping Wood and not GTF? It's time to think Prem and play like Prem. If players are not up to it then take the action now and move on.
SMX11 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Pretty much agree, the last few performances haven't been anywhere near the standard of champions. Hopefully they can put that right today.
davieG Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Well if he thinks gtf gives us a better chance of beating qpr today then thats who he should include. Gtf maynot be in his plans forvthe pl hut he'll have a suitablecreplacement in mind who wont be there today. You put out the team you think has the best chance of winning today's game.

Players have to be given an opportunity to prove they are ready for a contract next season. Also anyone with a slight knock such as James shouldn't be risked, give him an early holiday make sure he is all good to go next year. Out of interest if you take out GTF, Dyer, Wood, Hammond who is actually in the 16?
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 You're not NP and I trust NP to make the right decisions
pSinatra Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 We don't want to finish the season badly & carry that into next season. When we lost to Brighton, I thought this might be a good thing. It tempered any over-confidence. Any players included in the remaining matchday squads are playing for their future Leicester careers. Some players are guaranteed to still be with us next year, but there are a few that are effectively on trial. It's been a long season, with the pressure of maintaining our position & avoiding last seasons slump. It's understandable that there has been a drop in form now that the pressure is off. That said, we don't want to end the season poorly. As a club/squad it is important to be professional..........whoever Pearson believes are the right people to beat QPR.

I think you're only looking at you nose. If we are depending on GTF (as opposed to Wood or someone else) to win this game then he should be in our plans for next season. If we can't get the 6 points (maximum) we need to be champions without playing players not in our Prem plans we are already in trouble. We're going to be playing QPR, Bolton,Huddersfield and Doncaster - not actually Prem standard are they? We are no longer championship and we shouldn't be thinking like a championship team.
suffolk fox Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I think Qpr are premiership standard they just haven't performed this season. They have a fully fit squad to choose from today it will be a good test for us today. Win, it will install confidence that we can do well next season lose aka Brighton oh dear.

Out of interest if you take out GTF, Dyer, Wood, Hammond who is actually in the 16? Obviously I agree with your first point. I'm not saying that GTF, Wood, Hammond, Dyer shouldn't be in our prem squad. I'm saying that if they're not let's move on from them now. As to the other players for the sixteen : Kasper (I won't even bother with Logan) De Laet Moore Was Schluup Drinky King (if James is injured) Mahrez Knocky Vardy Nugent Wes Konch James (?) Wood Philips Not in the 16: Logan Smith St Ledger Bakayogo Miquel Hammond Dyer Hopper GTF Young players on loan players

I agree that they are close to Prem but that's the point I was making. If we can't beat a club like them at home next season we are stuffed. They are the type of team that we have to guarantee taking 3 points from at KP.

If you'd just been told you had got a big promotion at work but you'd already scheduled a long summer holiday break, would you go at it 100% now, or would you take time out over your break to recharge and reflect on the changes before attacking it?
Legend_in_blue Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I agree with what is being said. We shouldn't be worried about qpr in the slightest either. Key man Morrison couldn't even get in a West Ham team so he shouldn't concern us at all. We'll face far better next season, need to get mentally up for it and batter 'em.
shailen Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I think this so called bad run is exaggerated to all levels. A point away at Reading does not constitute a bad result. I agree that the Brighton game was a below par performance but if you take that game out we haven't been on a bad run at all. Even during our unbeaten run we have played worse....eg/ Watford(home) but we have shown the grit and determination to get results. We can't always play well, and I think going on this long unbeaten run has given people the idea we should win every game. That's exactly the attitude we should have, but if we don't win then there isn't need to exaggerate we need changes...etc unless it is for a prolonged period of time. Having said that, I hope we do have a strong finish to the season
Guest Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 You're not NP and I trust NP to make the right décisions Duh!!!! Why do you bother posting?
eastendfox Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Agree with the idea, but GTF and Dyer have a role next season for me. Less sure of Hammond but in Nige we trust

If I'm being paid mega bucks to work for another 2 weeks. I'd work for those 2 weeks before I stopped. Wouldn't you?

We need to play with a prem mentality for the next 4 games and that means beating weaker opposition. No point playing players we're not going to hold onto over players we are.
Guest Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Agree with the idea, but GTF and Dyer have a role next season for me. Less sure of Hammond but in Nige we trust If that's the case then I'd play them. at the moment I see more need for Hammond than I do for GTF or Dyer. For me it's a GTF or Wood situation. We don't need both and hopefully we don't need either next season. If that's the case then I say put Wood in he's younger and could still improve or at least boost his transfer fee. I don't see how Dyer will ever make the bench in the Prem. He's already behind Riyad and Knocky and surely we'll bring another in that'll be ahead of him too.

Jimothy Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 What an odd why to look at things. We have to squad we have right now, we can't make signings, so if we can't really name full squad of only players we'll want next year, we might not have a full squad of players we want next year. I'd be surprised if Phillips and GTF were in the major plans for next year, there's talk of Wood being moved on and a new striker coming in with Nugent dropping to the bench. So where are we gonna find a full compliment of strikers today if that is NP's plan. He might not be happy with De Laet, but we don't have another right back. He might be tempted to sign a new left back with Konchesky on a downward spiral and Schlupp still adapting, but what's he meant to do today? Just name a squad of best we have available today, worry about who'll be in the squad next year after the season is over.
Guest Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Injuries? We need cover. Yeah but better cover than that IMO. Waghorn has gone and he's better than some still here, so I'm guessing we're aiming higher than that.

If you don't think he has 16 players in the squad that he'll keep for next season you're off your rocker. Are you saying you wouldn't be happy with this 16 today? Jimothy Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 See aboveI'd be amazed if Phillips and Konchesky were in the plans for the team next year. We've got a title to win, let's pick from the best we have now and win it. You have very strange ideas. Edit: oh and we can name an 18 man squad.
