The Highcross has become Weatherspoons first non smoking pub :(

Well done to them. Can't wait for this to happen everywhere!

Edit: Didnt read what Lisa had put but we are basically saying the same thing. Oh the joys of hindsight!

Teeno, if we've both written virtually the same thing, we're obviously right. Listen to your surrogate aunties, please.

Personally, i think smoking's a disgusting habit and I'll never take it up. However, the more people that smoke within the society, the more money the government will get, and therefore, the less money the general (non-smoking) public have to pay in taxes. :)

Anyway Teeno i think i might send a photo across to my fellow wetherspoons employees in highcross and tell them not to serve you anyway, as you are well underage.

What shocked me was not the lack of smoking but the suggestion that you leave a place that serves a good selection of real ales to go next door to drink Fosters.

How disgusting.  :D

Beyond belief in my view.

Beer fest at the Ale Wagon. Could be finished now. Also Out O'vaults had one.

Yeah, they both finished last night.

Damn. I walked past the Ale Wagon TWICE on Saturday and couldn't understand why it was packed. I forgot the festival was on!:doh::doh:

:D I was in there for a short while. It's in the way of the route to the bus I catch to work. Went in one door and out another having a swift half on the way. :D:ph34r:

Highcross is 10 times better now. Less crowded and much cleaner. Still cheap as chips.  :D

Enough said IMO, i would go out a lot less if pubs were non-smoking and would avoid places where you couldnt smoke. I dont smoke all the time myself but some of my friends do, i personally feel that pubs have an obligation to provide decent extraction systems not ban smoking completely. IMO its not the smoking itslef that bothers people its the the smokey build up that commonly occurs in alot of bars.

and the smell!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My point was that the smell on your clothes would significantly reduced were the smoke extracted upwards and out immediately.

Im about to leave to go to work at the fantastic spoons (it pays the bills). Just hope they put me on the top floor where it is non-smoking tonight!!

Last night downstairs wasnt that bad as they had all the doors open and the smoke drifted away, but you could smell the odd cigar, which isnt actually that nice. Its when everyone has gone you can tell people have been smoking. Which is why those who choose not to light up have the option of sitting upstairs away from the smokers.

Sorry that is just not feasible.

It only seems feasible to smokers.

i was on top bar tonight so no smokers to deal with!!!!

Smoke rises, so surely it would be better to put the smokers upstairs, and the non-smoking area downstairs?

thats very true!!

i didnt design it, but i agree that is a slight techinical faullt espically as there is a massive hole in the floor!!!!

Im a non-smoker the majority of the time, IMO it would sort most problems.
