The Highcross has become Weatherspoons first non smoking pub :(

But not to worry a pint of Fosters in the pub next door, The Queen of Bradgate is only 1.80.

The more places they do this the better in my opinion, us non-smokers shouldn't have to have other people's habits imposed on us without a choice :)

You bloody behave yourself young man.

Non smoking pubs rock, and if you're still desperate for a fag (I know you fancy them when you're having a drink...) you can get one in the Rainbow and Dove.

Part of what makes the pub atmosphere so special is the smoky atmosphere, it will be like sitting in me lounge at home now :(

A few others, maybe :D

I've never understood the attraction of smoking, especially with all the diseases that are now proved to come from it.

Unfortunately, sometimes it's more to do with image than anything else. :(

I've seen my grandad die as a result of excessive smoking, and it's not an experience I want repeated. :(

its good the highcross is non smoking. i would go in there more often now.

Why any young person would willingly abuse their body by smoking is beyond me.

The appalling consequences can be seen any day at a hospital near you and subjecting other people to smoke (with the disgusting discomfort of inhalation and the equally disgusting residue on clothes) is totally irresponsible and anti-social.

It should have been banned in public years ago.

What shocked me was not the lack of smoking but the suggestion that you leave a place that serves a good selection of real ales to go next door to drink Fosters.

How disgusting. :D

Matthew!!! Prepared to be slapped, you silly young fool.

To be able to sit in a public house enjoying a few drinks with my friends without an itchy nose, runny eyes, and an incessant cough is a dream come true.

To be able to go home and sleep with a clear chest, free from the asthmatic wheezing normally associated with a night out is music to my husband's ears.

To be able to get up the next morning and run without excruciating chest pain is more than a relief.

I'm a non-smoker as well, so imagine how much worse off I'd be if I took up the filthy habit you seem to think is so great.

Shame on you.

Please give up Teeno, if not for me, or any of your other friends, if not for your family and your new little niece or nephew, but for yourself. I don't want to have to visit you on an oncology ward, and I certainly don't want to be attending your funeral.

Teeno my sweet, you are a total cock sometimes. Not only do you vote against Cobbo in the member v member final but you think smoking is good. A trip down the Oncology unit at the Royal for you my love to see what the effect of smoking has.

And before you have a go back people care about you and dont want you dying of some hideous disease 20/30 maybe sooner years down the line.

Edit: Didnt read what Lisa had put but we are basically saying the same thing. Oh the joys of hindsight!
