Go Pros and competition

I'm looking at getting a GoPro type camera but for the amount I'll use it I'm not sure I can justify the price. I've had a look at a few alternatives - TCL, Sony, Polaroid and although there are plenty of 'techy' reviews I'm not sure I understand all the jargon.

 

Has anyone got experience of using any of these? Are they worth the money saving or should I just plump for a GoPro? What would be your recommendation? My main two criteria are:

 

- High quality audio

- Decent battery life/continuous recording time.

 

Any comments would be appreciated.

I wore one out on the piss once, what I woke up to the next day was absolutely sensational. Well worth it for capturing nights out, wouldn't bother for sporting purposes though.

I haven't got one personally, but one of my coursemate at Uni has one because he does mountain biking. We did a group project on the sport and he used it when he was biking so we could add a first view... The quality is very good yeah, other than that I cannot really comment on battery life etc.

It's the model before the current one but still good, decent battery life, easy to use and great fun! You can get the GoPro app aswell for free which lets you control it remotely and use your phone screen as a viewfinder (which is useful because GoPro's don't have one).
