Luckily I can just get straight to Notts from here! sometimes not paying (Tomassi) HSBC is a free mp3 player or 10 CD's from CD WOW (top 75 though ) I think multiple overdrafts will be the only option this year

I would probably bus or get a lift to MK and then train from there. Or go to Leicester by train and get another train from there. Gonna be awkward but the train station is close to Aston so its not bad! Plus, my cousin lives in Leicester and he goes Aston (final year) so i might travel with him etc.
Katy Posted 24 August 2005 Posted 24 August 2005 This is so exciting, I hope you all have a wicked time (and remember to study too) I remember my first few weeks at Uni (De Mont doing Nurse training) just get every free thing going during Freshers Week, its amazing what you can skav when you are a student. Use your NUS card to the Max - its probably the only time you will get a helping hand and freebies in your life so make the most of it. Try here for some hints and tips Im starting Uni again in October (BSc Hons Psychology) but its the OU so it wont be as fun as physically going to uni but hopefully just as satisfying.
freund Posted 24 August 2005 Posted 24 August 2005 hey my man Cat Burger, I go to Nottingham Uni so we can meet up and I'll show the sites and nice places

Shum Posted 24 August 2005 Posted 24 August 2005 Tips from the Shum.... 1) Go with an open mind! 2) Be yourself! 3) Make freshers week a week to remember! 4) If you miss home at first, don't worry about it.... it will be fine in a few weeks (Coming from experience!) 5) Make use of the super fast internet if the halls offer it! 6) Take a padlock for your kitchen cupboard 7) Have fun! 8) And oh yeah, get the 40% needed in the first year!! Good luck pal, boy I wish I could roll back the years and do it all again! They certainly were, the best days of my life! PS: I got a cracking student account with Barclays if that helps!

Steven Posted 24 August 2005 Posted 24 August 2005 Cheers for letting me know! Bit late now but if i dont like it to start of with i could get a transfer maybe! 162926[/snapback] It is the Comp. Sci. bit and not Aston. I am sure that if they accepted you it must be a top notch institution. You didn't tell me your course choice. I did Comp. Sci. and I am not sure of its value on its own. It is just that in the workplace a lot of lip service is paid to the techniques you will learn, and little is done to use them. Once you get out there domain expertise is more important as the technologies will change. It is a good degree to have as it is well respected and has allowed me to travel and work in many coutries, though I am getting a little bored of that now. Don't be put off by me, it could be just my perspective. Enjoy yourself as they are some of the best times you will have, and you will make friends that you will keep for the rest of for the rest of your life.
