Kitchandro Posted 24 September 2014 Posted 24 September 2014 The corners are terrible, goalpost design with gaps between the stands look shabby, it will just be a bloated main stand, and no redevelopment of the Kop is a crime, one of the most celebrated ends in world football will just end up as a box stand, such a great opportunity to make something truly world class. Give them credit though not many can spend millions of quid on a stand that looks outdated before it's even been built. So basically the main criticism is they haven't filled in the corners? Personally I don't think corners are necessarily a good thing in stadiums.
Finnegan Posted 24 September 2014 Posted 24 September 2014 Yeh I would. They're just better looking grounds. The Allianz doesn't look all that impressive on the inside. Like ours, it's just a bog standard, basic design that doesn't really have any uniqueness compared to other stadiums. The majority of new grounds are ugly, I can't think of one that I would consider to be anywhere near up there with what I consider the best grounds. Millennium Stadium is shit tones better than most "old" stadiums. Steep, high, holds noise. Awesome ground. Bit basic in terms of facilities but from a fan's point of view it's the best I've ever been to. So basically the main criticism is they haven't filled in the corners? Personally I don't think corners are necessarily a good thing in stadiums. I sit in the corner at the KP. Really good view.
Kitchandro Posted 24 September 2014 Posted 24 September 2014 Could be worse though, have you seen the renders for west ham's stadium?, OMG, 19,000 seats to be netted off for games there. It's a complete mess of a stadium. Well we're in agreement there, what a shame for West Ham when Upton Park is a great ground. In an ideal world they'd redevelop the stand opposite the camera.
Voll Blau Posted 24 September 2014 Posted 24 September 2014 Yeah Gladbach's is a brilliant stadium, right near Rhiendahlen (army camp), used to drive out of there and the stadium was infront of you. One of the best I have been too. No doubt the fact there are lots of Liverpool replicas/scarves on display there attracted you to it too. Yeh I would. They're just better looking grounds. The only thing impressive about the Allianz is its size. It's grim inside. The concourses are grey and very basic. Probably doesn't help I was there for an 1860 game rather than a Bayern one but still don't feel I'd be that overawed by it. Was much more impressed with Stuttgart and the atmosphere there. Nothing beats a proper looking football ground in my opinion. Something Anfield will hopefully retain.
Grandad. Posted 24 September 2014 Posted 24 September 2014 No doubt the fact there are lots of Liverpool replicas/scarves on display there attracted you to it too. Haha, yeah that certainly made the experience a lot more enjoyable.
Voll Blau Posted 24 September 2014 Posted 24 September 2014 Who gives a **** about the concourse? No one really. I just assumed it'd be a lot more modern looking for such a new build. Chill fella.
