Just got this on a special Xmas deal online, leading up to Evil Within 2 (which I think looks great).

I've seen mostly positive reviews from gamers for Part One and thought I should experience it first instead of jumping straight into the sequel.

Terrific game, a little bit sketchy in terms of controls/collision model, but thoroughly entertaining and of course, absolutely nerve-racking.

You just don't care about dying that often until you've figured out how you can proceed to the next area or chapter.

It starts off somewhat slowly, but gets better and better as you progress - you just want to find the ultimate exit to this nightmare!

 

At the current price, it's a terrific value for money. Game seemingly goes on forever, good choice of weapons, the different arrow modifications also work very well. Lots of plot twists and scary moments, plenty of strategic thinking involved and it's a joy to try a new way of killing a zombie.

Everything that the original Resident Evil did for me, although the protagonist in Evil Within comes across as a bit flat (the backstory only develops as you enter the later stages of the game).

 

Currently stuck at the very end, trying to make my way through the third wave of enemies in the Big Eye Arena.
