Freeman's Wharfer Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Surely one of these midfielders should have picked Lampard up? We're not talking about your average opposition player here, it's a player that has walked into penalty areas in the past and scored for fun. As brilliant as he was for the rest of the game, Cambiasso looked culpable for me on that note.
The Guvnor Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 It was Wasyl ball watching When Lampard scored there were nine Leicester players defending in the 18 yard box so it's difficult to pick out one individual but for me Lampard was Cambiasso's man and he failed to follow Lamps run, if anyone was 'ball watching' it was him!

It was not an inevitable goal but Nasri's work was quality in the buildup and Lampard was composed to take it. Hamer seemed just indecisive enough to let it by, and might have gotten it with his leg or foot I thought. There was one vulnerability and Man City executed well to score from it. Amazing what 100+ million will do for your starting squad.

Candidcamera Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I agree with this but today was the first day since those early games that we have managed to look like a team attack and defence wise. The way we played was reminiscent of last year. There was pace about our attacks and more defensive options. Now we need to be brave and move Schlupp to LB bring back De Laet, drop Cambiaso for James but use him strategically when we need him, play Knockaert on one wing and Mahrez on the other with Vardy through the centre. Hamer may play himself into the team - his kicking was intelligent and set Mahrez up to burst on the opposition. In the window lets go for established Premier defenders and shore up the defence giving us more chance to move forward. Pearson has been moving away from the defend at all costs that cost us so dearly what I ask is that he is brave we need to win games to stay up.

He was too far forward initially..then he did see Lampard get in behind him, then STILL failed to track him into the box. Lampard was literally alone when he scored. And again, Cambiasso dipped his head when the midfielder put the ball away. Not for the first time.

I concur, Knockaert has been lambasted on here unfairly I believe, him and Mahrez are our most creative players. To get anywhere in this league you need pace. Playing a team centred around Ulloa no longer works, Vardy back in the middle Knocky, Riyad and Schlupp give us pace and creativity.

Knockaert is tricky, but certainly not quick? I'd play him at the moment though. I'm a fan of Schlupp but he needs dropping at the moment. He's on the fringe of games far too often. If he plays, he's got to get more involved.
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Doesn't anyone else think mahrez is guilty of overplaying far too often? Needs to be more direct instead of trying to cut back and beat 4 men all the time.
Finn Claw II Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 If pulis does go to Brighton then I'm not sure who else there is (Hoddle maybe). Didn't watch the game but sounds like we played the right formation. The players are also trying so I think the owners have two questions 1, has Pearson identified the right players to buy in Jan. It is pretty clear a premiership CB is needed, a striker and probably DCM (though I think we will stick with what we have). Jan 1st is close, Jan 31st is miles away. We need to do our business quick. 2, if we go down will Pearson bring us back up? I think this side could go down, refresh the defence and come back stronger. Personally I'm inclined to believe the answer to both is yes.
Finn Claw II Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 With schlupp and Mahrez at the ACON we will see a lot more of knocky and Vardy out wide.
