The whole point of the 'argumentum populum' is that its a fallacy that just because a majority of people believe something to be true doesn't make it true. if i were to get 15 people to estimate the weight of a cow, would the average be closer to the true value or a value estimated by one person? Yes there is a chance that the single persons estimate could be spot on but by taking an average you lower the effects of anomalies and increase the accuracy of the results.

And you should also learn that all though it is fine to disagree (if everyone though the same about everything this forum would either not exist or be as dull as the dull as dishwater saying) you need to accept when you're wrong and not keep backing yourself into a corner (see the fryatt thread in transfer talk) - because if it is pretty much just you against everyone else your quite clearly wrong. IIRC, I have criticised the following, Howard, Logan, Fryatt, Neilson, N'Guessan, Neilson, Dyer and Oakley. None of which I belive to be good enough for this division and there is at least omne in there who belongs in League 2. I think Weale is adequate, Hobbs, King and Gallagher are a class above. Berner is steady and Moreno, Lamey, Kennedy and Vitor have not been here long enough to pass fair judgement. Your issue is you seem to think criticising players, who earm more in a month than some on here will in a year, is somehow disloyal and defending them to the hilt is being a true fan.

The wisdom of crowds stuff is deeply flawed because its dependent on the crowd and can't be used to establish fact. Anyway we've veered wildly off topic.

Yes by all means if a player hasn't performed well critcise them but critcism should take form into consideration (so why are howard, neilson and dyer getting critcised when they've performed well so far?) and balance should be found between critism of some and praise of the others (and those some should they be deserving of it). Not 1 post of praise amongst 83 of critcism

I just wouldn't trust you to understand what they've taught you. The wisdom of crowds requires a diverse crowd and a question with a correct answer if you are to stand any chance of getting a close approximation of a 'correct' answer. The question 'Is Conrad Logan a decent keeper?' and the 'crowd' (all Leicester fans, overwhelmingly male and within a narrow age band) on here mean you can never get a 'correct' answer. You can get a popular answer, but not a correct one.

Neilson in particular annoys me, because despite being a complete embarrassment every time he kicked a ball in anger last season, people are suddenly saying he's brilliant again based on a couple of solid performances in the league (as part of a defence which conceded thrice to Palace and Macclesfield let's not forget) and a goal against a League Two side. The belief that because they play for us people like Logan are any good is silly, if any other club played Conrad Logan in goal against us we'd be laughing all the way to 3 points.

Lloyd Dyer, Steve Howard and Matty Fryatt are living off their exploits in League One, people seem to forget that Dyer went missing after the first dozen games in that league, only to reappear the other side of Easter.
Bettsj2 Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 NP signed Ryan McGivern, he is not faultless. Didn't NP sign about 50 goalkeepers when we were in League 1 rather than play Logan?? That speaks volumes to me. And he also gave Yann Kermorgant a 2 and a half year deal and Aman Verma a 2 year deal, so I cant say that NP was completely shitting gold when it comes to the transfer market.

Nobody has said Neilson is brilliant. We've said his PERFORMANCES have been brilliant, but we all know he's still not a great player. He's been put in our teams due to a thing called form.
