stez Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 i thought this heated debate, in the 'preston = pompous twat' thread, deserved it's own poll. anyway, i like amstell, i've watched him for years on pop world. and after stopping watching 'cocks because of lamarr, i'm now enjoying it again.
Leonisco Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 Definitely Lamarr. Don't get me wrong, Amstell is very good, but the way Lamarr could bring any big-time charlie celebrity back down to earth with a few sarcastic put-downs was top-draw.

How many of thr Amstell episodes have you actually watched? Did you see Vanessa Feltz or Bill Oddie?
Leonisco Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 How many of thr Amstell episodes have you actually watched? Did you see Vanessa Feltz or Bill Oddie? Admittedly, I've not seen all of them, but Lamarr had that laid-back air of arrogance about him that said "Yeah, I can say whatever the fook I like to you, and if you dare try and make a comeback, I'll just cut you down again twice as hard". Doesn't mean to say I'd like to go out for a drink with him, but it was funny as hell to watch. And no, I never saw the Vanessa Feltz or Bill Oddie episodes.

Those episodes in particular proved Amstell to be Lamarr mark II, except more outwardly humerous and less of a dickhead. How many episodes with him in have you actually seen? One? Half of one?

Leonisco Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 It's one, isn't it? No, I have watched plenty of Amstell episodes, thank you - enough, in fact, to form the opinion that he is not as good as Lamarr.

Leonisco Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 Okey doke. How much worse than Lamarr do you think he is? And did you see the Barrowman episode? I've already said on this thread that I do think Amstell is good i.e. here: Don't get me wrong, Amstell is very good, He's not much worse than Lamarr, in fact I wouldn't say he's "worse", just that I preferred Lamarr's style. And I did see the Barrowman episode - that was very funny.
Milky Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 Without Lamarr the show wouldn't exist so he deserves some credit for that at least. I enjoy the show with both of them at the helm. Amstell has been funny, but the whole gay and jew stuff is getting a bit old.
Suffolk_fox Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 It is hard to pick between them - Amstell is more vicious, but Lamarr has that laid back attitude that makes it all look so easy... I think Bill Oddie spent too much time in the Green room though...

Geo V Posted 13 January 2007 Posted 13 January 2007 Ive never watched it but as I have disliked Mark Lamarr since that Vic Reeves program, I`d say Lamarr
Lemon Harpic Posted 14 January 2007 Posted 14 January 2007 "Moby lives in New York, and was born on the 11th September in 1965" "Well, he said he wanted a surprise for his birthday!" Amstell would never go there. That's why Lamarr is better.

Babylon Posted 14 January 2007 Posted 14 January 2007 I like them both. Amstell does get really vicious though with his jokes sometimes, that said I do laugh my bollocks off when he does it.
