  1. Hopefully that won't prove critical, I don't think it will though.
  2. Terry Pratchett should be required reading for the subject of personal and moral responsibility.
  3. He has definitely ridden his luck, but it's rare you get a chanceless ton in these conditions.
  4. That's fair. Really need one of the established batters back on the pavilion by lunch or shortly thereafter.
  5. I think that given the speed at which they're scoring, they will need to bat practically the whole day (or perhaps less five overs). That's still a lot of time to go. Edit: They're more than halfway there in terms of total overs needed to face in the innings already, though.
  6. Driven by decades, if not more, of historical animosity.
  7. Archer might have some fun with the new ball when it arrives here, lot of variable bounce.
  8. Agreed, that's why I said I'm guessing. There's certainly going to be variance in reasons, but it is rather difficult to look at the wildly disproportionate levels of death and suffering and not come to the conclusion that this is overall a bit ghoulish.
  9. Interesting article. I would hazard a guess that those who go there just to confirm the inhumanity of what's going on are rather outnumbered by those who want to witness the spectacle as the Romans did 2000 years ago, though.
  10. Watched the highlights this morning, probably the highest overall quality pair of semifinals I've seen in the game.
  11. A Colosseum with refreshments for the modern age. "Repulsive" is the least that could be said about it.
  12. First session will be critical tomorrow.
  13. Lead of 311. India will in all likelihood have to bat for around 130 overs (until just after tea tomorrow) to save this match.
  14. But in all seriousness, he's one of the greats.
  15. I've never seen Jeremy Bowen appear as angry as he did last night when reporting on current matters in the Middle East. And having an idea of what that man has seen, I think that is saying something.
  16. I'm sure that he's not. The whole Epstein matter, however... Edit: In fact, it's rather difficult to find much of a take on the above from a lot of Trump fans, including the ones on here, seemingly. All seems rather quiet about the issue.
  17. No idea. I don't expect much real talk from Starmer, but I hope the Scottish First Minister might give him something of a piece of his mind.
  18. I've said my piece on the matter before because to me the numbers are abundantly clear, but I won't clog the thread up repeating it.
  19. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg4r4z2gx2qo I'm sure he'll get a warm Scottish welcome.
  20. Previous discussion here seems to show that comparing eras in that way is a very dangerous game... Certainly the best Test batter since Tendulkar, though.
  21. Of course Root was going to go from 5th to 2nd in style and in the same innings. Generational talent.
