I'm more inclined to think that belief in cultural supremacy tends to go from that to rather horrible ethnic cleansing and history clearly shows it not only goes there often it often goes there fast. Whichever "culture" is doing it tends to be mostly irrelevant. Total cultural egalitarianism is likely a fools errand, but if it's a choice between making the effort there and the alternative above...

Looking elsewhere for a moment: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp9kp2kx329o This is where lack of planning and ignorance of environment in the name of economic growth gets you. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c87l7xjp235o China clearly continuing to follow their version of the Monroe Doctrine. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2g263v3kzo A genuine bona fide hero.

That seems to be the case, yes. Then, I think, it comes down to examining each individual case on its own merit, which a lot of people (and I'll happily include myself there) don't have the time or the spoons for.

Hypocrisy and a belief in inherent superiority that merits having power over other demographics. That's how. "Cancel culture for me, but not for thee, because I'm better than you by my very inherent quality and so I deserve the institutional power to do this and you don't." At the most fundamental level, that is what it comes down to imo. Some people simply don't want any kind of fair or equal world.
-
I fail to see how this stops different demographics from looking at each other like they think they're superior to the other guy (when in fact none of them are) with the resulting divisionand consequences of that division, but fair enough. Yeah, but Brits (particularly when they're a particular skin colour) are somehow inherently elevated when it comes to financial and cultural contributions no matter where they happen to be. Apparently.
-
Then, with all of this being said, I wonder what the solution to that all is that doesn't involve the continuation of that division with all the trouble that entails.
-
All of this plus a lot else of what is going on now just shows how much the idea of national/cultural supremacy coming forth from anyone is mostly destructive, always hypocritical and almost never ends well for the vast majority of decent human beings it touches.

Gone but not forgotten and certainly not the death list

From what I remember, 2016 (or at least the end of) was pretty bad for celebrities passing as well. -
You could indeed, and it may even have a certain merit from a certain point of view. Looking at it in that way would neglect the critically relevant gap in power and therefore consequence that clearly exists between the two parties involved, though. What was it that Uncle Ben Parker said about great power and responsibility?

That's fair enough and I can see the frustration there.

Possible controversial opinion here; Crawley appears to get an inordinate amount of flak both here and elsewhere considering he is the top run scorer for England both in the last Ashes series and this one, and his scoring in this series at least has been consistent, rather than feast or famine. I'm not the guys biggest fan, but there are much more pressing issues than him opening.
-
The further he goes into a tournament, the stronger Littler appears to get. You would think only Humphries can really stand in his way now.

The desire for slavish obedience to one ego trip, no matter how ridiculous, is so childish. It's a toddler wanting to do things their way in every matter, with no debate or negotiation or consensus, and then throwing a destructive tantrum and looking to hurt people if they don't get it. Laughable. Unfortunately, this toddler has enough power to hurt anyone and everyone on this planet, so the joke is rather on us.

As per above, unless and until that workaround includes impeachment proceedings, then I'm not sure it means much.

Also, good to see Brook getting at least a little vindication for his "man don't give a fvck" style in this situation.
-
You do wonder what the difference was between this match and, say, the First Test. This England team can be very confounding at times, and the lack of consistency is frustrating.
-
In any case, absolutely insane match that, you would think the ICC will be giving the grounds team a tap on the shoulder about the pitch. Clearly doesn't come anywhere close to making up for the lack of taking opportunities up until now, but it's good to finally get on the board in Aus after 15 years and three totally barren tours.

Not to the perennially negative.
-
The whole thing would be laughable if the consequences weren't so potentially awful.

Vance on the UK and France re nuclear weapons: “If they allow themselves to be overwhelmed with very destructive moral ideas, then you allow nuclear weapons to fall in the hands of people who can actually cause very, very serious harm to the United States". Does anyone really think the current US administration is worth anything at all as a friend or an ally to the UK, when they clearly do not give a shit about places apart from how they might benefit themselves only?
-
Short term self interest, once again. On that topic, right now quite frankly I'd simply take enough powerful world governments simply accepting the problem fvcking exists and treating it as anywhere near a priority. Preferably before the bodies seriously start piling up.

From current evidence, Badenoch is entirely fine with the Trump administration.

I wish this was absolutely sure to be satirical and have no basis in fact.
