I've not seen a season this bad - so many dead rubber games left. Never have we been this far below the relative level of the league. The mind boggles that Southampton are in an even worse position. I'm sure we'll slip below them before the end of the season

I will enjoy it if they somehow beat Liverpool and genuinely believe they are going to win it only to collapse massively and finish 7th. A composite of our title winning season and our two seasons falling to 5th combined.

I just want Smith to try something different. If we setup with another 433 with a midfield that can’t run then we’ll get what Smith deserves. To keep trying the same setup which clearly isn’t working is just dense, no matter “how well the lads have trained”. I have a little sympathy in that the squad simply aren’t fit enough but putting an unfit Youri in a three is suicide.

By that logic I assume we also couldn't underachieve, only finish where we deserve? You can deserve something but still overachieve, as we did when we won the league.

I think Germany in 2002 was easier. In the knockouts they had Paraguay > USA > South Korea before Brazil beat them in the final. Not that it matters, you can only beat the teams that you are drawn against. It also reminds me of the people who say Leicester only won the league because the big boys didn't turn up (which I also think is horse sh*t).
