Worth remembering that he hasn't played all that much the past 2-3 seasons towards his latter time at Tottenham and then Sampdoria.
-
Not sure what the point of buying him was with the number of strikers we have, but a shame he has not had many opportunities because when he has come on he offers something different and has scored too! Maybe we'll see a bit more next season, whichever division we're in.
-
He started the season so well but he has made a few more mistakes recently (like the rest of the team), which for his own very high standards, shows up more. He's played a lot of minutes so wonder if some tiredness is also setting in.

Is this the most stressful season as a Leicester fan ?
pkonline replied to marcymarc666's topic in Leicester City Forum
It's not really been stressful for me. To be honest, I thought we would struggle this season due to how terrible we were on and off the pitch last season. The first half of season was a pleasant surprise. On paper we are the best team/players, so it's bee frustration more than anything when we play badly or lose. The club have had worse seasons with relegations, heartbreak, and even administration. Those were stress. And with the whole FFP thing and what is happening with football in general, to me, getting promoted does not feel all what it used to mean. -

Administration is a nuclear option involving massive points deductions, losses for people that we owe money to, our credit status goes down, and nobody would trust us! -
Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it!

It'd be a strange sight seeing potentially several teams starting on minus points next season! It'll be symbolic of the financial shambles English football has become and perhaps a necessary evil to stop the crazy money being moved around. -
Disagree and I don't agree it's different. We'll never know how the club would be today if Khun Vichai hadn't passed away, and that's not really a point. You could argue that under him, we made some terrible decisions in 2016-2018 with regards to spending and wages that perhaps we've seen the effects these past 5 years.
-
I agree with you, if we have broken rules, we should be judged as everyone else. However, football is football, the chief financial officers are often against other interests. Imagine being told the last 3 years not only can we not buy anyone but we need to sell - our fans wouldn't have it and wouldn't understand. It's a lot harder. I'm sure we'll see other teams in similar situations, in the PL and EFL.
-
What's annoying is that since this news broke, with a lot of hearsay and little fact, some of our fans and opposition fans are already in meltdown and criticising us for things that aren't true. Already seen stories on rival groups such as Leeds who seem to be having a field day over us "breaching FFP". Hopefully, in a warped way, this could galvanize the team and the fans and re-focus on getting promoted.

People forget Khun Vichai was the Chairman when we broke FFP in 2013 and got subsequently fined!

There's a lot of emotion at the moment, and it is worth balancing the negative emotion with looking at the bigger picture. People slamming the club and owners and this cloak of quite horrible negativity about a complex situation isn't IMO either helpful, healthy or productive. It's very clear that a lot of people are misinterpreting what little facts we actually know. By all means people can react however they want, that's just normal human variation in behaviour, but like with most things in life, there needs to be some proportionality. -
I'm sure we'll look back in a few years and say this is probably the time the Premier League peaked - lots of fans are totally disinterested in the game. It's all glitz and glamour. Fans are increasingly priced out. Players are more distant. Clubs connect less with their community aside from token gestures. The media outlets use fans/clubs as click bait for their own sakes. It's even less likely anyone would do a Leicester and build success on sporting merit alone. Even smaller clubs that have 1 good season will often see their best players poached. Players and managers here today gone tomorrow. The Premier League is now a global product, morphing into American franchise sport, and attracting franchise fans and franchise mentality.

The only custodians of a football club are it's fans.

Well said! There are a lot of fans who simply do not understand the relative complex issues here and are often being pushed into meltdowns by various social media outlets to turn everything into a crisis. If there was no FFP, King Power would happily invest more money into the club. Every club has to be financially viable independent of it's owners. -

The club can't ever please everyone. They'd get as much stick not spending XYZ of player ABC with the nonsense "transfer window" bonanza. And they get stick for not spending so much the last 2-3yrs - primarily, as we now know, due to FFP rules. We're not a big top 6 club with massive revenues - we don't have millions of supporters buying tickets and merch, we don't have all the lucrative sponsors etc. We're like most other clubs - just trying to get by - and occasionally get lucky. -

We also won the League, FA Cup, finished Europe a few seasons. Cup half full or half empty? Most football supporters would bite your arm off for anything like that. And clubs that are lauded at present, like Villa and Brighton, haven't achieved anything like that in the past few years. -

Yes - apparently we wanted to structure the deal and payments in a way to ensure it didn't fall foul of FFP - it was too late to sort on the final day on the transfer window. -
With the extremes of revenue Premiership -> Championship, it's hard to imagine many teams not sticking the rules. The rules are silly and I do have some sympathy for the club - I am sure last season was something they did not anticipate because we had been a European challenging team and needed to spent to maintain that. Leicester isn't the first, or will be the last team, to be stung by financial rules. The bigger problem in football is the differences between the haves and have nots.
