Development/Youth Squads 2023/2024 Thread - U18/U21
pkonline replied to Ryy's topic in Leicester City Forum
Well done to the U16s! We have a good record of giving the youth the opportunity to flourish and get to the 1st team, so fingers crossed this bodes well for the future. -
Maybe they want to release it as the same time as an announcement, such as Fatawu (whenever we can start registering players!)
-
Good managers, or those with recent success, will always be touted for "bigger" jobs. You know you have a dud when they're linked with nobody!
-
Good player on his day looks outstanding, but doesn't do it enough, whether it be our systems or players around him. He'll never be a full out goal scorer. Seems like a nice guy, rarely complained when spending most of his career on the bench. Good luck to him.
-
If next season will be anything like the last few, anyone in the bottom 8/9 could be in a "relegation" scrap. Make a good run, and you'd even go from relegation scrap to possible Europe place!
-
Probably the same as 2014/2015 season - stay up and consolidate. We'll need a good start so hopefully take the momentum of this season into August.
-
He's sadly threated to deceive so many times during his career with City.

Who's making the ultimate stand?

English clubs need to adopt the model in Germany where fans have a significant say in clubs decision making. As this proves, there's no mechanism to show your frustration. People will renew because otherwise, they'll just be the ones to "lose out". -
Hull been blowing hot and cold. They have the ability and really should have finished top 6.
-
If I remember right, when we signed FBS we actually had a pretty decent value of £10-12m/year sponsorship which was one of the highest outside of the top 6 (the top 6 are x4 even x6).

He was also going to be a back up for a back up this season. When he has played, he's looked decent, but the step up to the Premier League may well be too much for him, so at the very least may need to consider a loan for a season, or move on.

This is an unfortunate part of the game and life! Hangers on and influencers are needed to spread the City word. Some provide invaluable advertising to a Far Eastern market that is currently really sought after - and after all, Leicester more than most need to tap into this to make ourselves more financial rich. That's why they did the Bangkok parade on 2016! Yes these "influencers" are annoying (and we have plenty of home grown ones too!) but whether we like it or not, social media is the big thing. Let's be honest, most Clubs would rather not have loyal season ticket holders because financially you don't get much - they pay the least for their seat, they don't spend much at the ground each match, and they may buy a shirt once every few years. Increasingly Clubs would prefer "tourist fans" who drop in, spend hundreds for a ticket, and spend a fortune at the shop, usually as a one off. Just look at the options for places like Real Madrid and even Liverpool. Just look at some of the plans being touted such as playing a 39th game abroad - crazy!

You make your own enjoyment. I had a lovely time and yes the waiting was a faff but it was a laugh. The sun was out, it's a bank holiday, and the beer is flowing 😄
-
The club take one step forward and one backwards. It doesn't take much to do something for the fans which is an "easy win". I don't blame the owners or CEO because the problem is the club seriously lacks someone who is competent at middle management - little things like noticing the players are neglecting one side and moving them on, or making sure they don't run out of beer at half time etc! I thought it was a fantastic day yesterday in and around the ground (the band were brilliant) and also town after the match was buzzing. But fully understand some of the complaints by supporters mentioned here.

Excellent work - well done - you are a credit to our community and Club 👏🏾
-
Credit to the club, they did it really well and was a decent atmosphere. Lots of shirt giveaways, free beer and whisky. Yes, agree support local pubs though!
-
According to their Facebook, they'll be open from 9am!
-
With life feeling quite hard and crap for a lot of people, why not have something positive where the community can come together? Why do we need a reason to celebrate and share something positive? No wonder mental health issues are through the roof! Plus give the local city centre economy a mini boost for the day!

We could have had the same arguments for the Preston game - I think the players will be grounded and want to finish with a decent game in front of the home fans. Blackburn have a better goal difference and just need a point to stay safe mathematically, but realistically they have a good change irrespective. Their rivals have tough games.
-
Excellent analysis. Agree with Villa although they are very close to FFP so will have to sell, but they have a superb manager who, if he states, will keep them in Europe. Saying that, he may well be poached by a "big club" as there are a few vacancies and not many high quality candidates like him!

Sounds just like Leicester a few seasons back!
-
If we start the season with a points deduction, hopefully it can galvanize the team and fans - just like Everton's initial "bounce" when they had theirs.
