To be fair that is only part of the picture. How much has the population grown in say the last 25 years and how much driven by migration. You of course can take a view if this is good or bad etc but don't look at a smaller sum in isolation. I read a BBC report that there was a rise of 700000 in a year to 2024.

Yes there were,  that was the  "Boris wave",  he knew without large numbers of economic migrants the economy would tank in the first years following Brexit.  If these has not come the economy would have been in a even worse state,  think about that for a second.

People suffered before Trump and people will suffer after Trump. If anything Trump shows how utterly powerless an American presidency is within the systems that we live in. The last ones to have any meaningful power were Reagan and FDR.

We don’t have the resources to do both to the level required.  There are millions of Epstein docs (and millions more to come).

im not saying dont attend the the Epstein stuff. - just don’t pour in too much resources when there are kids being raped and abused today which should be the priority.

Should we alsp stop investigating murders that happened yesterday in order to move resources to stopping murders happening tomorrow.  We should most clealrly be doing both in each case,  ensuring justice is seen to be done is one of the biggest deterrents to future crime we have.

Completely agree with you, but couldn’t resist the pedantry of technically 2 tbf, as you can still live in Ireland on a UK passport and Irish passport holders can still live in the UK.

Must admit I wasn't aware if that, I had thought the common travel area only applied to those from Northern Ireland and Irish passport holders wishing to travel/work in NI.

Makes me laugh when  the English say we've "stopped freedom of movement". That's news to anyone who holds an EU passport...

Yes, we've reduced them from being able to freely access one country, leaving them with access to 27.  Whilst we've stopped UK passport holders having access to 27 and left them with 1.  Completly nuts isn't it.

Scottie is taking the absolute piss here.

After his first 29 holes he was -1 and miles off the pace.

After 64 holes he's now -18 and only one off the lead.

    Unbelievable comeback.

Thats two weeks on the trott he's given the field a head start, only to finish very close to winning it.

Harlow Town away in 1980 and Exeter City away in 1981. Now what could possibly go wrong? 😱

Didn't go to Harlow' but was at Exeter,  remembering on the way home speculating on coach on the way home, by how many Pool were going to beat us by that following weekend,  given they were in their hayday and had not lost at home for over 80 matches,  still a record I think.  You can probably guess the rest,  typical Leicester and why we carry on with the addiction.

Genuine question - how can anyone pledge to rejoin the EU ?  It’s way too vague.  They can promise to explore the possibility but their opponents would just shoot down a rejoin commitment as being ‘labour pledge to join euro and ditch pound’

and they’d not win on that basis

Vague!!!!!  then what does that make the pledge to leave the EU??????  We pretty much know what joining the EU means as they have a set of rules,  we had no idea what leaving the EU meant,  given that everyone in the leave campaign  had a different view of what any future (now present) relationship with the EU meant.

we’ve done just as many dodgy sponsorship deals as them at our comparative level. We’ve just been ****ing dreadful at spending the money received.

Also worth noting our losses reduced last year because of the amount of ****ing advances we took out. Debt now through the roof.

That is not true, loans/advances effect cash flow not profit/loss.

Because they aren’t using him either way. He’s not even getting in their U23s regularly, so best to have him at least playing games at some form of level rather than sat around the place doing nothing. I imagine he will play at some point for our U23s.

What is this under 23's you speak of

I think if it’s looking like he’ll win, he will step down and let a Jenrick or Braverman lead. I don’t think he wants to be prime minister either.

And will continue to laugh from the sidelines as he had always done.

Sad that so many people are against a protest and therefore seemingly just ok to let this continue.

As for this affecting the players. Look at Sheffield Wednesday. If the players actually put some effort in, and were at one with the fans, it would be easy for all involved to differentiate protests against the board and ownership from the players. If we had a decent bunch of players that would be the case.

I don't wholly disagree with you re the player's, but and it's a big but in this context, our players, unlike Wednesdays are atill being paid and well looked after.  I doubt you'd be supporting customers in protests against your bosses in those circumstances.

I've no doubt some will not like my use of the word customers, but I am afraid we have to accept that as the reality now football has been taken over by international business interests.

Protests against that is something I could support.

There's no intention to "Protest" in the ground during the game. Players wont even see it.

As for negativity during the game I'd imagine that'll be dictated, as it always normally is, by their performance. Which to be honest has deserved negativity.

I am pleased to hear that and wish you good luck.

You can get behind the manager and still protest against the board....

    The two aren't mutually exclusive.

You can when the fans and the players are at one with it aka Sheff W. Protests of any sort during a game in our current position will only have a detrimental effect on the players.  we now need to get behind Kingy and whoever comes next, if we are to have any chance of staying in this league.

I fully accept many are going to want to protest against this board, and believe me I have some sympathy but if you must please keep it away from inside the stadium before and during play.

You're probably right, I'm just sure I read somewhere that tariffs had to be EU wide and couldn't be imposed upon individual countries within the bloc, I think possibly when he was threatening Spain when Sánchez refused to increase our defense spending to meet his demands

It could be that WTO rules say they should but that organisation is even less toothless than Congress

  17. 34 minutes ago, FoxesDeb said:

I thought tariffs were set at EU level, so he couldn't pick and choose which EU countries to impose them upon?

The host country imposes tariffs on goods going into the country, so Trump can do what he likes, while Congress continues to be gutless. The EU could and should respond by imposing its own tariffs on all goods entering the single market.
